Because that is exactly what you were doing. You are basing your assumption on past history, just as I based mine on the Croat Ustashi of World War II. You do not know the real situation in this country, only what you see in the news. So you are assuming that this woman had to have done something to deserve the treatment she received.

The cashier was right. The woman was obviously having a bad day. Have none of you ever had a bad day, when you said and did stupid things that you otherwise would not have said or done? Maybe she just found out her husband was cheating on her. Maybe she just found out that her son is into some bad drugs. Maybe she just found out her daughter is pregnant. Maybe, at some other store, she was purposely treated badly because of her color. Maybe she just got a bad medical report. Or a ticket. Or a summons. The list is endless. Or maybe she just had a whole lot of little things all add up to a big burden that was becoming too much for her to handle, and she was hyper-sensitive to social situations and misreading social cues.

I am white. I am what you would call fairly well-grounded and balanced. But occasionally, at the check-out, if the person taking my money doesn't treat me with the cordiality and respect my money has earned me at that establishment (the customer ALWAYS being right and 'king'), then I do notice little things like whether or not the cashier greets me or asks me how my day is going. I don't make a fuss, but I do notice it.

We all have different breaking points. Instead of turning this into an "us against them", why not just assume (as the cashier did) that the woman was having a bad day. I, for one, hope she's having a better day today. Cut her some slack. Someday, you may be the one who needs someone to cut you some slack, and you'll be grateful when someone does.

We're all human. We make mistakes. We need to help not hurt each other, because what goes around, comes around.

You are a lady and the cashier, say a good word about her to management.. You see ,I always felt that there are this dark entities that cling from people, they talk to them and make them do this things, they put 'blinders' so they dont see reason, or take their patience away...i see them laughing and moking after their deed is done. Bless the person ,tell them to have a good day and you will see the confusion in their eyes. You will feel good, your day will not be spoil and maybe you will make this thing wrapped around them ..go.
