I've wondered this as well. Without exception, the ones I have met in real life were friendly and outgoing, really quite charming. Totally opposite from those who post here. Makes me wonder which are the real Aussies!

Op, if you apply the same logic, all Americans are super aggressive, swearing, know-it-all ignoramuses.....because that is how a lot of them behave on this forum. As an Australian living in the US i can say that it is a mix of things

1st most americans dont get the australian humor and mateship thing if i was to return home now and visit with some friends the first thing out of their mouths would
be a string of expletives that would make a sailor blush.
To the untrained and mostly untraveled average American
it would appear a brawl was about to ensue but nothing
could be further from the truth.
