At least in the world as it is right now, as fucked up as it is, people can still flea from despotic corrupt nations and seek refuge and asylum elsewhere, many end up losing their lives in the process, like those so desperate that they cling to undersides of aeroplanes, but still it's possible and there are still good places to flea to, and there are still good nations who can and will intervene in the wrong doing of rogue nations.

If we end up in a situation where the world is controlled by a single government, that government is likely to become anything it so chooses to be, and undoubtedly it will over time, even if it takes centuries, the totalitarian tiptoe / incrementalism, and there will be nothing anybody can do about it.

The whole world controlled by one corrupt / despotic entity, that there is no escape from, is a very real possibility if this happens.

All countries should retain their sovereignty and control of their own country.

A one world government should never be allowed to happen.

The idea *isn't* bad. In the same way that the *IDEA* of any other form of government isn't bad in and of its' self. It always has and always will *go* bad because of the people that would run it. People are inherently flawed and thus all their systems are doomed to corruption and, eventually, failure as well.

A world government will bring in more and more laws. They want you to be so used to obeying laws that you don't think for yourself at all. Then they will strip the luxuries away and you will end up getting a weekly food rashion, an alotted day to drive your car. A petrol amount allowance. You will ask permission to travel overseas. It will go on and on. Maybe not in your life time but for sure for your children and grandchildren.

If you take away all other possible negative or positive attributes of a one-world-government. Focus only on this one... Choice.

Right now. Society has a choice. We have cultures. And different ways of life throughout the world.

If the world was ruled by a single entity. Everything under it would be subject to its changes in culture and way of life.

Whether you agree with all of the different choices available religious or otherwise, it's important we have those choices, cultures and customs.

Having a single government rule the entire world risks removing everything that makes independence unique.

You want to feel safe and secure, but at what cost? Are you willing to give up your right of choice, your right of self-determination, your right to choose your own GOD, your right to choose eternal life, your right to decide where you may live, your right to choose a religion, or not choose a religion. The right to decide for yourself what your life is worth by your actions, beliefs, and abilities, instead of allowing someone that has no knowledge of you, deciding your life, what you will believe, eat, think, work, and die.

OP, The idea of a one world government is a great idea. It's whose running the show that causes concern.

Jesus Christ will head a one world governement upon his return and it will be a time of real peace.

Before that, satan will have a stab at it and for those who don't conform to his system, it's going to be a real nightmare.

For someone like you, who seems to want to conform, you will probably have no problem in the upcoming satanic, one world order.

The idea of a one-world-government is only a good idea if everyone was the same. Clearly, we aren't.

If everyone shared the same ideas, beliefs, customs, etc...A one-world-government would be the ONLY option we would want.

If there is life on other worlds, you can bet on some of them, they do have one-world-governments. It's not ALWAYS a bad thing.

But, for our world, and the way we all are...It would be devastating..

OP, since you're sincere and NOT trolling, I will answer -> In and of itself, a unified world body is not an unnatural state of being, but it depends on the rulers of that body as to how society goes. If it is a government in fear, then it will oppress the citizenry. If it is full of the Platonic version of the 'benevolent dictator' then it would probably be a well functioning system.

It is all about the rulers. How would they be, act, run the system, treat the citizens, etc.

The current state of scientific technology and research almost demands a unified world body, for the simple fact that a single nation-state, or a private entity, either corporate, or individual, now has the ability to secretly pursue research that can have planet-wide effects, even to the point of the unintentional, or otherwise, destroying the entire planet, or the the ability of the planet to sustain life.

These types of research include anti-matter and creating mini-black holes, biowarfare, genetic manipulation, self-replicating nanobots, AI, scalar, fusion, earth drilling and geoengineering, weather modification, (i'm sure I've missed some), and FINALLY, super weapons.

That being said, I'd rather be a free man than a slave.

Yet, most Americans are fine thinking of themselves as Americans, and not Floridians, or New Yorkers. Of course, people still call themselves that from time to time, but you can tell the true situation because when Americans are abroad and people ask them where they are from, they don't say Rhode Island, or Montana, they say America, or the United States, or just the States.

Most people don't even care what county they live in? Yet in the past, people's identity was greatly tied to what province or country they were from. Not anymore.

Putting some head above an entire world of differences in cultures and beliefs will allow laws that destroy all of our individual societies.

What if the leader was Chinese? One child per person? What if the leader was American? Marijuana is illegal? What if the leader was Muslim? No makeup for women allowed?

You kill choice when you have a single government body. People that have different beliefs that fall outside the rule of the world, WOULD LIVE IN FEAR if they tried to practice them...
