There have been plenty of quakes there in the past, but typically seperated by weeks and/or months. It's not an overly active area usually. If this ridge starts seeing more quakes and/or larger quakes, the potential is there for some serious East Coast trouble. Just something to keep an eye on.  |

Quoting: pmb1 Not sure it has ever happened. The Mid Atlantic is a divergent plate. There is no shearing force,that I would think could cause a tsunami. It is a plate that moves further apart as new crust forms. I guess a strong enough quake could surely push the water and cause damage. |
