NEW MADRID AREA-EQ "NEWS"

Okay so I was just going to post this in the St Charles one and leave it at that Thread: Earthquake cancellation notice from Billings Mutual Insurance in St.Charles Mo. BUT then I got the newspaper and it was just too much! My brother dropped by yesterday (We live in Southeast MO) and have felt the occasional little quake I think last year there was one in our area (Not part of the New Madrid but another fault) that was loud and shook many houses in our area so one of the more noteworthy ones and I have lived here most my life and all my adult life. So his fatherinlaw got a cancelation for his Earthquake insurance yesterday in the mail. THEN our local newspaper has on the front page _________ Receives Eathquake Mitigation Grant...It says "Increasing the safety of students during possible Catastrophic events will be the next project..." and goes on about how our school is getting a grant to replace the glass windows/doors in the school cafeteria (This place has a wall of glass windows and the other wall is about half glass) with safety double-paned ones. It also provides the means to place seismic-sensitive shut-off valves on all the natural gas lines on the school premises. So this was quite the news for one day, then I get up and look at this Thread: NEW MADRID MEGA-QUAKE ANNIVERSARY DECEMBER 16th 1811 CONNECTED TO MEGA-QUAKE WARNING DECEMBER 16th 2012, TWZ & 188 DAY CYCLE!?! and DANG! Plus add to that this vague feeling of unease that crops up the last week or two and I am a bit concerned. The schools in these areas are made of the old red bricks and I hope there is no school in session if ever a quake strikes...it will not take a BIG one to make for some serious damage all over this part of the country.
