| Anonymous Coward User ID: 14663435 12/13/2012 11:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ummm, why didn't he just let him off with a warning??? Are these things being staged? Just curious. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24473407 Umm, he had to do his job? He can't give a "warning" for registration, if it's expired he must give a ticket. Expired tags is kind of a big deal. Actually he is quite free to let him go, as often happens, with a warning. How about to make sure he used the money to take care of the registration. If he didn't give the ticket the guy probably would have went and bought a hooker with the 100.00 |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20901334 12/13/2012 11:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well the ticket and the cost to register is probably more than $100. Why not let him go with no ticket and give him the $100? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8206693 They said the $100 was enough for the ticket and to renew both his wife's and his registrations...it was probably a $25 fine and $60-70 for two registrations...the cop still had to do his job and issue the citation. The police are not required to write any citation. The SCOTUS has ruled on several cases that police are not under any obligation to do anything. Even most states statutes spell out enforcement is the officers discretion. He is free to pay for others, he was just as free NOT to write the citation, he could have written a warning or just given the guy the Bill and walked away. |

Read yesterday that a psychiatrist for CA prisoners made over $800K last year. Received his education in Pakistan about 10 years ago. I'm not saying it wasn't a nice gesture though. BTW, the department probably fired the cop after the guy's father wrote the letter. |

Why not let him go with no ticket and give him the $100? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8206693 Not necessarily, they'll usually forgive the ticket once proof of registration is provided or knock the fine way down. The $100 may cover it, but may just help the guy in the next week get by. Unfortunately, the official will probably be fired for this. I thought the same thing. Dude should have kept his mouth shut. Probably got him fired. They only promote them for shooting dogs and tazering grannies. |

Just curious. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24473407 In many departments once the expired tag was called in and run through the computer they have to give the ticket. Otherwise it opens them up to all sorts of lawsuits from discrimination when they wright the next guy a ticket and don't let him go, to miss use of the computers. We did it to ourselves by complaining so much, the days of letting a person go for the right reasons is nearly gone. It is a shame. good pin! I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |

Cops deserve high pay for having to clean up the shit off the streets everyday and get shot at and spit on... No disputing that. And don't get me wrong, I had two uncles who were cops. Just saying, in general, government services are the hot jobs of the future, unfortunately. Have an aunt who works with retarded children and makes $100K from the state. She's retiring soon and will continue to receive 90% of her salary for the rest of her life. Try finding that deal in the private sector. |

I drive what I can afford--PAID FOR in full. I wonder if he has concidered not being a debt slave by not buying things he cant afford? THEY both probably have the nice cars bought with credit they dont deserve. Quoting: doomsucker KUDOS to the pig though. I was about to agree with you until I watched the Video, He's not really 'Ballin' driving that Mazda 6 around! I give him credit for not wasting money on a gas-guzzling truck or SUV like everyone else in Texas. |
