Re: Police Officer Wraps $100 Bill In Traffic Ticket
A traffic stop in Plano ended unlike any you've ever heard about before.

It started when Hayden Carlo was pulled over for an expired registration sticker.

Carlo says he's been struggling to support his wife and two small children.

"You get paid, pay your bills, and there's your money. It's gone."

He told the officer he had no excuse for the expired sticker.

"I said 'there's no explanation for why I haven't done it, except I don't have the money.' I said 'it was either feed my kids or get my registration done."

The officer wrote a citation and handed it to the 25-year-old. Carlo says when he took it, he could not believe what he saw.

"I opened it up and there's a 100 dollar bill. I broke down in my car what else could I do."

The officer never told anyone about the $100 gift. But Carlo's grandfather, Billy McIntire, was so moved by the kind gesture he wrote a letter to the department.

Re: Police Officer Wraps $100 Bill In Traffic Ticket
Well the ticket and the cost to register is probably more than $100. Why not let him go with no ticket and give him the $100?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8206693

The $100 would be used to get the registration, inspection, taxes paid, etc. Then, as is customary, you show up to court showing that the violation has been cured and the ticket will be dismissed.

What the officer did was issue the ticket to essentially guarantee that he use the money to get his registration completed.

Still a very nice gesture by the cop even if he issued the ticket. If he had let him go and just gave him $100, the guy would probably spend the money and not have any incentive to fix his registration problem.

nice story.

I couldn't help but notice the late modle car he drives...poor fucking twerp. I drive what I can afford--PAID FOR in full. I wonder if he has concidered not being a debt slave by not buying things he cant afford? THEY both probably have the nice cars bought with credit they dont deserve.

KUDOS to the pig though.

My brother in law's a cop. Some years ago, he started taking a bag in his cruiser's trunk on every shift. In there he has plush toys for kids, blankets, shirt, pants, underwear, socks and some other goodies we all take for granted. Apparently many, many kids have been made happy receiving a toy and blanket in an emergency situation. He's tough as nails, some say asshole about him. But for people in need, he's got his heart at the right place.

The 100 bucks makes up for that though.

Basically you did! If driving a 2006 Mazda 6 is "over-extending" oneself then I hate would hate to see what you would have him drive and trust the safety of his kids with. It's a modest, reliable car. My point is that if he was driving a $40K truck or Lexus and had a note on that-then I would be in agreement with you.

This story brought tears to my eyes, the heart strings are pulled when something shows humankind to be just that, kind.

This is true Brief, in my experience. There are more good out there than bad, and those that do good are the ones that do it from their heart and not for PR. That's why we don't hear about it.

Here is to all those out there that have helped strangers from the kindness of their own hearts, and to those that have shown up and helped me when I have needed, then as strangers do went on their merry way, not expecting anything from it just helping a fellow human. Thank you the kindness in humankind. hf

Rallying support for cops. Nothing more. Obviously if it was just a case of a cop being nice, he would have let the guy go like thousands of cops do every day and there would be no story. If this really happened, the guy should do something else with the money.
