Why not let him go with no ticket and give him the $100? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8206693 They said the $100 was enough for the ticket and to renew both his wife's and his registrations...it was probably a $25 fine and $60-70 for two registrations...the cop still had to do his job and issue the citation. WTF? The court costs ALONE here is $60.. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 25646201 12/13/2012 01:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A traffic stop in Plano ended unlike any you've ever heard about before. Quoting: Alien Disclosure Group It started when Hayden Carlo was pulled over for an expired registration sticker. Carlo says he's been struggling to support his wife and two small children. "You get paid, pay your bills, and there's your money. It's gone." He told the officer he had no excuse for the expired sticker. "I said 'there's no explanation for why I haven't done it, except I don't have the money.' I said 'it was either feed my kids or get my registration done." The officer wrote a citation and handed it to the 25-year-old. Carlo says when he took it, he could not believe what he saw. "I opened it up and there's a 100 dollar bill. I broke down in my car what else could I do." The officer never told anyone about the $100 gift. But Carlo's grandfather, Billy McIntire, was so moved by the kind gesture he wrote a letter to the department. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 16678904 12/13/2012 01:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This happened to me too, minus the cop giving me 100 bucks. both me and my wife were pulled over for expired reg. ugh.. ANd I, much the same as him, two new kids, broke as hell, so, you have to let these type of things go as long as you can and still try to be careful, or, you can pay it, have it done, but not have enough for the light bill.. so, which would you choose??? In the south, it works like this. First off, it's expired registration, not license. They give you a ticket, if you pay the ticket (almost 200 bucks), fine. Still have to get it done. Or you can show up in court, prove to them you got it done, and they dismiss. The guy gave him enough money to get both cars registered, You have to have an inspection to get registered, so, that's about 25 bucks x 2 for both cars. The cop gave him enough money to get it all done, and not be in trouble any longer. |
