Because some people who don't succeed at it end up in psychiatric places and are forced to stay alive. This forcing people to live their miserable lives makes no sense to me.

No one has to kill them, they can easily give them a "death pill" that the person can choose to swallow or not.

We deem those who are suicidal as sick and not rational. Believing that they are such; the law isn't going to go and just say "I don't believe you are thinking clearly and you need help, but hey whatever go ahead and kill yourself anyway."

Instead, they make laws to make suicide and assisted suicide illegal. The problem or point of discussion comes down to those that are terminally ill and in severe pain. In these cases, society considers allowing laws for suicide\assisted suicide.

But, this is where the two areas of society clash. The same way abortion, gay marriage, and other proponents and opponents clash.

Beyond that, there is fear that a loop-hole would be created to allow for suicide\murder in places where it wasn't actually allowed by the law.

So, it's just flat-bar illegal.

Well for one reason, it costs money to clean up a dead body. How can you collect on that?

Suicide makes things harder for you as a re-incarnating soul. All the challenges you were supposed to face and work through in this lifetime, will get added to the next, plus the challenges for that lifetime.

Although illegal, it's kinda hard to charge anyone if they are dead.

Idk if its illegal, never heard of anyone getting arrested for trying to kill themselves and idk about there being a law against it. Strongly discouraged, maybe and maybe there are some people that will force you to live.
