OP, anybody and their half brother can get food stamps. And there's food pantries, too. You might be poor, but there's zero reason to starve.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10749884

For the most part your are right. But there are a lot of proud people out there that won't ask for help. It's very anonymous here.

Also, I didn't want to send a grubby Christmas meal. I want to send something that doesn't taste like cardboard and was a little over the top. Something a little more special. I've never had a gourmet Christmas dinner sent to me. Of course I grew up with great cooks in the family. No need.
 Quoting: PokerFace

THIS IS TRUE!!! As single mom, I've been eligible for (had to years ago and it was awful) fs for long time but won't.

I'd rather starve than deal with govt bureaucrats dissecting my private life with pompous interrogation and rude stares.

yuck.

we may go months w. a diet of mostly ramen noodle soup, but govt. bureaucracy that leaves me feeling shattered for months: no thank you.

Re: Who's not Having Christmas Dinner this year? Financially Strapped.
mahalo nui for doing this

as a single mom, we have often gone w/o xmas or thanksgiving dinner, but sometimes a church donated turkey and trimmings and I was always so grateful.

we used to go help out at homeless shelters etc as a way to give on those days.

when you give you don't notice what you're lacking as much.

plus, we got dinner! lol.

so, the Lord bless you.james 1:27

I try to ignore the holidays as my first born is missing since 19 since my divorce.

long story many tears.

his younger brother is now a teenager and says, save your money, mom and buy me a video game instead...lol.

I'm not applying.

just wanna say you're one of the reasons glper's are cool.
shared a subway sandwich on thanksgiving and won't afford xmas

but you've reminded me to start expecting some way to bless others the next couple weeks.

melekalikemaka and ho ho ho

I haven't been able to afford a Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner in over a decade. I only recently became not homeless after being homeless for over 7 years.

I'll probably go to the soup kitchen again this year. It's where I've had Christmas dinner every year since I got out of the Navy in 2002.

How cheap! You are getting a free advertising amongst th0usands of people and in return you are giving a hungry family a paltry 2 pounds of turkey? Cheap ass! Why not double the portion so they all don't have to have a small serving of turkey. Or give out 5 of these meals as you are getting lots of exposure to your website here. How do we now these people will even get the meal and that you are not just a spammer? Green Bean Casserole? Ewwwwww....

I am not sure how charitable you seem as you mock Christians. This is not kind nor filled with brotherly or sisterly love as you claim. But more of a boasting act then anything, if you really want to help someone do it with humility, donate to your local salvation army or mustard seed, give to families in need most grocery stores now have the ability to put money down on your bill payment to pay for food and dinners for families in need, go out and volunteer at your local soup kitchen, invite someone over to your home that has nowhere else to go.

By the time you help someone here you could have helped many, even world vision help the children that have nothing and are cold and hungry. It's the good will of your heart, you don't need to boost about it, just go out and do it. God bless.

I gave away three cars last year. One person on this site to a dad that desperately needed it. Not to mention all my other smaller charitable donations to the likes of the Salvation Army and several food drives. Not that I owe you any explanation.

Of course, you are showing your bad side of Christianity. I expected one of you with a long nose to come looking down.

It is what it is. What is it you are doing for one of our GLP members? The Grinch will steal Christmas any time he see's an opening.

U.S. Residents only. Sorry. I need to work quick, cause the meal needs to arrive on time. I will email the person I choose in order to get an address. You must be a registered member. Tomorrow morning I will notify the person I choose via GLP mail.

I will not call out the person I choose. If the person who gets my GLP mail wants to come forward they can, but not necessary.

This is an earnest offer and this comes from the bottom of my little black heart.

Merry Christmas!

Pokerface...This is an wonderful thread! I agree with America mom..you have renewed my faith in mankind. I didn't think of giving a way a dinner which is an amazing idea. Also, do you need more funds? If so, please PM me please.

Your timing of this thread is interesting. I too felt like I wanted to do something to spread a little Christmas cheer today.

Since I had no idea what to do, I took my big furry loveable Leonberger dog to town and walked him up and down Main street. I had a bag of treats with me which I handed out to senior citizens and children so that he would do tricks for them.

He posed with many families for Christmas pictures and put lots of smiles on lonely faces. Its heart warming to watch how a big dog and a few treats can spread such joy.

Many Leonbergers in the US are used for therapy work. My boy Micah just turned one year old. In another 8 or 9 months I plan to have him certified to do therapy in hospitals and nursing homes. In the mean time we are going to continue to do a little freelance Christmas therapy, since it was such a big hit today.

Bless you OP for what you are doing!!!

Some of you call yourselves Christians and your trying to call me out on my giving. That's to bizarre! I'm not going to let you black hearted people get to me in anyway. It's your choice to be the dark little trolls in life. My life? It's much brighter than yours. Good day.
