I use 2 travel all the time. Now I just hang out around the home. I don't know Y, don't care 2 go anywhere, it's like travel is boring - also u have 2 deal w/the government checking u out in air and now on the roads. Had to go through 3 of these just 2 go from Phoenix to San Diego. They r using dogs to check for drugs, our government is out of control checking on use. This was several miles away from the boarder:

Re: How many of you feel like this lately...
I'm a housewife, and normally get cabin-fever pretty easily, but lately I do indeed feel like being at home. My son's school is just a few miles away, and with all that is going on around the planet, I feel the need to be at home ready to go after my boy at any given moment.

And even though I don't believe the 21st is going to bring certain DOOM...I have to admit that I'm very glad my son's first day of Christmas break is the 21st and he will be home with me.
 Quoting: HippyAwakened

That is how I felt when my kids were in public school last year. I am happy they are homeschooling this year. It gives me more piece of mind I think. Don't listen to all those giving you a hard time. It was hard for me to make the transition to homeschooling. I had to weigh alot of things before making that decision. You really have to be ready mentally to take on that task. Anyway, I know what you mean, sometimes, you have to get out to get out of the house, but again, I always feel relieved to go back home.
 Quoting: skyblau

Hard decision my ass.

I would live in a BOX and eat bark before my son set one foot in a public school.

I've been wanting to keep my kids home from school everyday for about a week. And when they are gone, I am nervous and jittery until they are back under my roof. I won't even let them ride the bus as usual, I drop them off and pick them up.
Imdont know what it is but I just want them near me.

Not that it's any of your business, but we're cool with the school he attends, we discussed home schooling and decided as a family (my child included) that he would benefit from the structure, social interaction, and more varied extra-curriculars available in public school. In addition, we also introduce topics for discussion and learning at home that are not offered in school.

I am a housewife part time...the rest of my time is divided between helping out with my parents' 2 businesses and helping to care for my aging grandmother, so the time factor does play into it.

I can't answer for her, but for me, my husband puts faith in the system and he won't allow me to homeschool. That, plus the kids know how to wrap me around their fingers and i would probably let them slide with too much.

Yea, alcohol doesn`t really cut it for me, as I don`t drink and such other vices. I moved to study. The studies are free, but the true reason behind it all, as I don`t expect to have too much success with them studies, is that I`m finally away from Romania. Re: How many of you feel like this lately...
Yes.......

The reason is that I live on a tiny fixed SS income that disappears completely every single month before the next one arrives. I've cut back on absolutely everything that I can and extremely thoughtful about every item I buy, including food.

I'm so grateful to be able to hold on to my paid for car, but my concern is that if anything went wrong while out driving I wouldn't have the funds to take care of it, or to even get myself home again.

It's pure stress to live this way and I hope no one else ever has to accept this situation. But I know that there are many, many people just like me......barely surviving.

Believe it or not, I can go for two months sometimes on one tank of gasoline .....very small tank.....because I don't go far and certainly don't take leisurely Sunday drives.

Barely surviving is NOT living by the way. It's sad for me to see so many suffering from lack of funds. I never thought I would be in this situation .... ever. Just goes to show.......you never know what's around the corner.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4545733

Holy crap. I thought I wrote this but I just realized, I just woke up. But wow!
My car finally died on Friday so I junked it because I didn't have 1400.00 for a timing belt and values (head gasket?). But I was like you where I didn't feel comfortable leaving my tow zone the past 2 years.
It's a horrible way to survive.

I am very frugile about spending money too. But not having a car, sucks. Hopefully in time I'll get used to it but I doubt it. I wanted to live like a minimalist but I wanted to be in control of my decisions though.

The rate things are going ...as I'm getting older...I don't see how I'll ever afford another car again.

I feel very victimized to my surroundings and I know that's an unhealthy way to live. I want to feel grateful but it's so hard right now.

Yes. I am almost at the point where I fear turning agoraphobic. I don't have to work at this point (but I really want to on some level).... I have been looking into work at home opportunities just so I don't have to leave the house. I am not a shy person, nor do I have an social disorders. I just don't want to go anywhere. I cancelled a really nice vacation to the Dominican Republic over Christmas because I just kept feeling like I shouldn't leave my dogs. I am just ready for this next year to be over. If nothing bad happens by June of 2013 I am just going to be done with GLP and other doom related issues. I can't take this feeling anymore.
