Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29337268 United States 12/13/2012 12:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With all of the 2012 hype...Most people want to feel safe...I myself find it better to be close too home!...IF something happens doom related or psycho related I am home and with my family! Quoting: Settle4It That is true. If something doom related happens, it is best to be where you feel most at home, with the ones you love. There is probably no "safe" place if the world ends, might as well be where you love to be, with the ones you love the most. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4545733 United States 12/13/2012 12:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes....... The reason is that I live on a tiny fixed SS income that disappears completely every single month before the next one arrives. I've cut back on absolutely everything that I can and extremely thoughtful about every item I buy, including food. I'm so grateful to be able to hold on to my paid for car, but my concern is that if anything went wrong while out driving I wouldn't have the funds to take care of it, or to even get myself home again. It's pure stress to live this way and I hope no one else ever has to accept this situation. But I know that there are many, many people just like me......barely surviving. Believe it or not, I can go for two months sometimes on one tank of gasoline .....very small tank.....because I don't go far and certainly don't take leisurely Sunday drives. Barely surviving is NOT living by the way. It's sad for me to see so many suffering from lack of funds. I never thought I would be in this situation .... ever. Just goes to show.......you never know what's around the corner. |

HippyAwakened User ID: 1667285 United States 12/13/2012 12:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a housewife, and normally get cabin-fever pretty easily, but lately I do indeed feel like being at home. My son's school is just a few miles away, and with all that is going on around the planet, I feel the need to be at home ready to go after my boy at any given moment. And even though I don't believe the 21st is going to bring certain DOOM...I have to admit that I'm very glad my son's first day of Christmas break is the 21st and he will be home with me. So you're an "awakened hippy" that sends her kid to public school when you have the time to homeschool? |

I don't really feel like staying near home but since it is the holidays and relatives are coming need to bake and clean. But this year we have traveled quite a bit and next year looks to be like we will be doing the same thing. I am allergic to stupidity so I break out in sarcasm When they said there was no Lyme in Florida they lied! |

That is how I felt when my kids were in public school last year. I am happy they are homeschooling this year. It gives me more piece of mind I think. Don't listen to all those giving you a hard time. It was hard for me to make the transition to homeschooling. I had to weigh alot of things before making that decision. You really have to be ready mentally to take on that task. Anyway, I know what you mean, sometimes, you have to get out to get out of the house, but again, I always feel relieved to go back home. |
