The "start your own hospital" response is waaaay out of line for the issue being discussed.

Hospitals operate under a CON "Certificate of Need" so that medical services are not duplicated. If there is service in your area, you cannot get another CON.

More than half the reimbursements (billing paid to hospitals) n most instances is paid by taxes Medicare, Medicaid and other taxpayer paid benefits. In many instances these benefit payments are limited in a jurisdiction. For example, there can only be just so many beds qualifying for those benefit payments.

That someone should "start your own hospital and pay yourself what you're worth..." is an outlandish statement from anyone who claims to be in healthcare. You know better.
