Yeah true, but youd be surprised at how many do their job.

Yes, it is true the PA's etc. follow the orders, but the MD is the one the lawyers go after. Plus if you didn't didn't come from money, and did it all on loans, you were looking at about 200K in debt after residency if you had a kid or two along the way. I know. I lived it. And we are not as well off as you would think. Not if you are an ER doc. It was too big a price to pay if you want the truth, at least for our family . A friend of mine and his wife (met in dental school) are 40 and a million dollars in debt...that's $1,000,000.00 plus interest for loans on school, house, car, and buying a small practice...plus interest...if they make 300K a year, Obama considers them rich, but that barely puts food on the table with all their payments and hiring a couple of helping hands... Wow, that's sad, because that puts them on the treadmill right away. Part of the problem is doctors are not very wise business people. We had been poor so long, we only took out bare minimum loans for living. So we lived above our means from the beginning instead of paying off loans and living modestly, I thought I should "live" a certain way. It was partly because we were in Dallas and it was such a different lifestyle from what the average northeasterner was used to living, especially back in the early 90's. We were also a decade behind as are your friends. My husband finished his residency when he was 38.
