Re: Jury duty - ughhhhhhh
hey tips..

ok so when you are in the court room and the lawyers asking you things they will try and manipulate your thoughts and ideas..

like ill give you an example.. the person charged was caught stealing in a store they have 2 cops who showed up after the fact who claim they know this guy stole... with no evidence.

your first thoughts was there a cam feed use ... if you want to prove your case.

nope no live cam feed only cops word...

if it doesnt sound right its not..

they will find the most simplest person to take and use cause they know they can manipulate you

just be honest and say no I do not agree with you

btw you might see about 600 people there in the waiting room expect to be there all day

have lunch money your whole day is gone

if picked you could be out of work for 2 weeks. and not paid jack squat

How about, since I assume this person is in court they are more than likely guilty, as if he was not, law enforcement would not have had enough information to further the process?

I did JD last week and had a good time! I would call it fun listening to the others in the jury room spout everything but the facts it was HILARIOUS!

OP I'll bet you're one of those that decides whether they like a movie BEFORE they see the movie themselves, they base everything on somebody else not themselves. That's you isn't it OP? Be honest!

Re: Jury duty - ughhhhhhh
if you have jury duty, you need to read this:

[link to www.apfn.org]

As a JUROR in a trial setting, when it comes to your individual vote of innocent or guilty, you
are truly answerable to GOD ALMIGHTY. The First Amendment to the Constitution was born
out of this great concept. However, judges of today refuse to inform JURORS of their
RIGHTS. THe Minneapolis Star and Tribune in a news paper article appearing in its November
30, 1984 edition, entitled: “What Judges Don’t Tell Juries” stated:
“At the time of adoption of the Constitution, the jury’s role as a defense against political
oppression was unquestioned in American jurisprudence. This nation survived until the
1850’s, when prosecutions under the Fugitive Slave Act were largely unsuccessful because
juries refused to convict.”
“Then judges began to erode the institution of free juries, leading to the absurd compromise that
is the current state of the law. While our courts uniformly state juries have the power to return
a verdict of not guilty whatever the facts, they routinely tell jurors the opposite.”
“Further, the courts will not allow the defendants or their counsel to inform the jurors of their
true power. A lawyer who made . . . Hamilton’s argument would face professional discipline
and charges of contempt of court.”“By what logic should juries have the power to acquit a defendant but no right to know about
that power? The court decisions that have suppressed the notion of jury nullification cannot
resolve this paradox.”
“More than logic has suffered. As originally conceived, juries were to be made a safety valve
way to soften the bureaucratic rigidity of the judicial system by introducing the common sense
of the community. If they are to function effectively as the ‘conscience of the community,’
jurors must be told that they have the power and the right to say no to a prosecution in order to
achieve a greater good. To cut jurors off from this information is to undermine one of our most
important institutions.”
“Perhaps the community should educate itself. Then citizens called for jury duty could teach
the judges a needed lesson in civics.”
This booklet is designed to bring to your attention one important way our nation’s founders
provided to insure that you, (not the growing army of politicians, judges, lawyers, and
bureaucrats) rule this nation. it will focus on the rule of power you possess as a JUROR, how
you got it, why you have it, and remind you of the basis on which you must decide not only the
facts placed in evidence but also the validity or applicability of every law, rule, regulation,
ordinance, or instruction given by any man seated as a judge or attorney when you serve as a
JUROR.
One JUROR can stop tyranny with a “NOT GUILTILY VOTE!” He can nullify bad law in any
case, by “HANGING THE JURY!”
“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I
should do and, with the help of God, I will do!” Everett Hale
The only power the judge has over the JURY is their ignorance!

Re: Jury duty - ughhhhhhh
You can get out of jury duty 3 times without showing up. I did and didn' t get another summons for 7 years.

Request change of date, state financial hardship, tell them you have a mental illness, say you have the flu, ignore the letter, unless it was sent certified and you signed it,othewise they have no proff you got it.

Some of them worked for me, but 7 months later i was called back and went. Sat in this room for five hours, this person comes in and said they had messed up on the paper work so thre case was closed. We got credit for the year.
If you woke up breathing, you have another chance!

I was going to suggest something similar. Perhaps asking the prosecutor to explain how jury nullification works in front of all of the prospective jurors, or just discussing cases where it occurred with the other jurors.

I wish they'd pick me for a jury. That would be great! For some reason, they always send me home, even though I try not to say anything they wouldn't like. I would love the chance to free some poor slob trapped in our hellacious jail system for no good reason. Maybe they can smell it on me.
