how come americans earn so much money?

I make 23K Euro a year in salary. I feel like complete fucktwat.
I don't have a university degree but even with a uni degree I wouldn't gain as much as you guys make a year (70 to 80 K). I read these numbers a lot here on glp.. HOW do you guys do this.

That's the salary of a good teacher here. I think the americans do well. You guys don't have to hide. What bothers me though is the fact that they are so many homeless people over there in the US. Not really if you have kids and a high house payment or rent then, if you slap bills on top of it few have a lot of excess cash for savings accounts. Many in this country live paycheck to paycheck and are one or two paychecks from homelessness if job loss. It is not out of the ordinary for a house payment to eat up more than half that salary.
