Always depends on your intent.
If it's for glory (Lance Armstrong comes to mind) then cheating is as worthless as the aim (glory).
If however it's for a higher goal - then here's why.
Rules are created to restrict those under the spell of self-restriction. Self-restriction is one of the primary methods by which we're kept under control. Further, this world is a game with inherent rules. But the only way to win the game is to disregard the rules. This is how you rise beyond where you've been placed (in whatever direction you choose). As long as you obey the rules you obey where you've been placed and you remain a slave to those who rule this world.

Can you see how the game in this world is a game of subtle thought patterns? Yes, eventually success on this level can result in external manifestation (and even earlier in internal manifestation eg. happiness etc). But before any of this happens one must dedicate oneself to operating on the level of heart-thought. This is faith. Dedication without direct manifestation (but the belief in that eventual manifestation).

Disbelieve everything you currently believe. It's all a subtle warping of the correct thoughts. Seek the middle path between the notions you've inherited.
