Bacon @ $2.59/package
I thought awesome! Grabbed 15 packages thinking I was getting a good deal.

I've never thought to check what the weight was of the packages of bacon I was buying. Always assumed they'd be 16 oz. Not so anymore - these were 12 oz. It works out to about $3.50/lb so it wasn't a complete ripoff but it reminded me that I need to make sure I'm buying what I think I'm buying.

We all know this has been happening with other products but this is the first I've seen it happen with bacon.

Well, I'm not eating them all tonight... I put 14 in the freezer and cooked one up for sandwiches tonight. That's when I noticed they weren't 16 ounces. Same size package. Just less bacon.

Bacon isn't fattening. It's what you eat with it that counts.

Try your local butcher.....the one near me sells excellent quality bacon at $3.69 a pound, (kept the price the same for the past two years that I've shopped there.

And yes....manufacturers of lunch meats, smoked sausage, etc. have all downsized some of their products while the price stays the same.....I've noticed it, too.
