Ahh but the difference with xbox and playstation is that they can be unplugged at will, I expect the set top box cannot be switched off, is remotely controlled and could be used in cases of law enforcement or in times of seiges so it could easily be accessed by non desirables too.

Also most cable and satellite companies state in the contract you sign that you cannot make any alterations to these boxes and that the property isn't yours either, it is merely being loaned to you so don;t even think about disabling it manually...

Or you could not own a t.v. It just sucks that it's come to that if you want true privacy.

Theres a few shows that i still watch, i haven't watched tv in almost a year aside from History special, or Discovery special, Hatfield and mccoy, how the universe works, the walking dead, supernatural, thats about it, plus i just record them...saves on the Download limit my ISP has put in place.

I do think they already have it. On the flat scenes, mine has a tiny little red dot that is barely noticeable, but I found it.

All you have to do is put a security code on your wireless router and not let your TV connect to your internet...they ain't gonna see shit then...
