Official Countdown to Zero Hour on US Budget Passage. Discuss Please :)
As of today, December 14th, 2012, the US Congress has not decided on a budge and is no where near being able to vote on passage of any budget. President Obama won't compromise on his demand that Congress turn it's authority to limit government borrowing limits. The resistance to this demand lies on both sides of the Congressional isle, yet Obama is refusing to budge.

If the Congress should fail to come to a compromise with the President and not pass a budget by the deadline, come January, there won't be an American economy. I don't know what they are doing, but this is doom on a level I can't cope with. The suspense is killing me!

Will they pass a budge? What kind of compromise can there be when Obama refuses to give up his demand to control the countries purse strings? How can Congress pass any emergency measures when Obama is leaving them no room to maneuver?

Boehner, after earlier expressing openness to a deal with Obama, has taken a harder public line in recent days, emphasizing “serious differences” that exist between the two sides. He also has refused to budge on the White House’s demand that Congress surrender its authority over the government’s borrowing limit as part of any deal.

“Congress will never give up our ability to control the purse,” he said yesterday. “The fact is that the debt limit ought to be used to bring fiscal sanity to Washington.”

At a minimum, the White House wants a multi-year extension of the debt limit to prevent another standoff early in 2013 and risk a government default.

People say that on 12/21/12 duality will transform into collective consciousness.

Perhaps the end of duality and the beginning of shared consciousness will solve this fiscal cliff crisis. Which will be the perfect segue into the NWO

I think this will go down like the healthcare law. They will just pass whatever the President wants so they can go home for Christmas. Obama will have full control of the debt ceiling and I imagine within these next few years he will also get rid of term limits. Then he can just rule the world.

It's the scenario that's been spooking employers and investors and slowing the U.S. economy:

Congress and the White House fail to strike a budget deal by New Year's Day. Their stalemate triggers sharp tax increases and spending cuts. Those measures shrink consumer spending, stifle job growth, topple stock prices and push the economy off a "fiscal cliff" and into recession.

The reality may be a lot less bleak.

Even if New Year's passed with no deal, few businesses or consumers would likely panic as long as an agreement seemed likely soon. The tax increases and spending cuts could be retroactively repealed after Jan. 1.

That's what they are hoping on? That people won't panic?

It's pretty wild times. The government has yet to show restraint for the past 100 years, but it's getting to the point that we can't go on with a straight face. But at the same time, the government is so big and vast that any cuts are going to affect large amounts of people.

It's a deep hole were in, and the shovel is within grasp.

I don't understand why people don't see that the budget isn't the fiscal cliff, its the debt. The debt is the fiscal cliff. Just like all of us, we really cannot spend more than we take in, and if we do by going into debt, eventually it catches up with us. Then we have to make big painful cuts into what we spend money on. It will be painful. But, it has to be done.

Another thing, this evil people that make over 250,000 or 200,000 a year. I heard a woman last night, 62 years old, saved her money her entire life and has 350,000 built up. She wants to retire so she is going to pull money out to pay off her house, credit card and car. This will leave her by the time she is done paying everything off with around 140,000 dollars. This is a woman who did the right thing, worked her butt off and saved very carefully, this will drive her over that cap and put her in the same tax bracket as the evil rich people. How is this fair. Hell, how can we even demonize these people, the majority of them worked their balls off to get where they are. My parents, working full time jobs and going to night school to get their bachelors and then masters, sacrificing years with us kids to give us a better life. Dad is a plant manager now and mom is a nurse practitioner. They don't make 250,000 and they had to pay well over 40,000 dollars in taxes last year. That is after all the write offs for charity, and the house as tax shelter. How dare anyone think they have a right to what my parents and so many others sacrificed so much for. Everybody has an opportunity, if they search it out. If you are black, hispanic, female etc, do you know how many scholarships and grants for school you have that I am not allowed to get because I am a white male. There are thousands. No reason, other than sheer laziness.

The US hasn't had a "Budget" for almost 5 years now. We are running a $$172 trillion defict..

all this fiscal cliff horsecrap is just that, horsecrap. There is no way the US can ever pay the deficit off.

there is only $7trillion in "actual" dollars in circulation, so we owe 3000% more than all the money of all the nations on earth combined.

Re: Official Countdown to Zero Hour on US Budget Passage.

The US hasn't had a "Budget" for almost 5 years now. We are running a $$172 trillion defict..

all this fiscal cliff horsecrap is just that, horsecrap. There is no way the US can ever pay the deficit off.

there is only $7trillion in "actual" dollars in circulation, so we owe 3000% more than all the money of all the nations on earth combined.

And how long can they keep this running? If they don't offer some kind of budgetary restrictions, consumer confidence is going to plummet.

President-for-life Obama shelling Capitol Hill and congress into submission some time in the future?

That would be a surreal news day.
