A kinetic strike with a tungsten rod the size of a power pole can deliver the same energy as a nuclear weapon.

Just how many "beepers" do they plan to add to the already enormous tangle of metal we have up there?

What if...this "uncontrolled" satellite is subject to atmospheric drag and starts re-entry soon. It will get lower and lower in orbit until on 12/21, when the descending orbital path is crossing just above America, the EMP package on this "weather satellite" happens to detonate?

I think it would still take a couple of years for it to come down. The drag is so slight that it wouldn't just fall out of the sky immediately.

Do you honestly believe that NK has weaponized EMP technology? It's still unconfirmed that *the US* has weaponized EMP, nevermind some technological backwater like NK.

Sure sure, a detonated nuke sends out an EMP, but it's bloody inefficient and, at that point, I'd be more concerned about the explosive damage and radiation than any EMP from it.

EMP is hella easy to make.

I could make an EMP.

You could make an EMP

They make EMP sound like a super weapon when Tesla was playing around with this years before the telephone.

A nuke isnt an inefficient way to EMP an area.

Its a great way actually, the radiation super charges the Ions in the Atmosphere creating a blanket of magnetic energy that lingers due to high atmosphere static induced friction.

Re: North Korea says it will launch more 'satellites' soon
Either NK lets nations such as Russia, China and US monitor ALL DATA and have a Link to said satellites, or we shoot them down with lasers and patriots. Simple enough solution to a country that is still technically at war with the US, and a tyrannical dictatorship that rather spend money on their satellites than food for it's people.

This should be the only resolution set forth by nations of power. Let them have it and let space nations monitor it(The nations that actually know what they are doing and have been up there many times) Or be destroyed.

This seems fair considering what record NK currently has.

inefficient? wrong.. its overkill

but in a nuke attack, who cares? the first who will come its
a high alt hydro or two, who will kill all defences with its huge EMP, blinding every radar or command center and everything electrical in the cities and not only

next, some min later or even secs, its coming..the real hit
with warheads and decoys passing throu the blind defenses

other, smaller types of EMP weapons are build for more special operations where you need just local hits without
nuke disaster

but in doesnt look like NK have these specialised high tech
weapons...in fact, they doesnt need them, they are used in
overseas conquer operations

NK needs only classical atomic warheads, and probably they
already have them

NK tested nukes in 06 and 09, and awaiting the third test soon

All they were waiting on was the rocket needed to deliver, seems like it works now

Those booms are caused when air is rapidly pushed out.

Air is instantly burned off... by what? Bombs? nah.

I think its energy weapons being tested. (Rail guns, Plasma discharge, Ion Weapons)

utter stupidity and rubbish.

The first launches on ANY ally of the US will wreck armegeddon ... No ally or even an inch of US territory will ever be surrendered without hundreds of nukes annihilating NKOREA, CHINA and fucking RUSSIA if they have the balls. US subs are just sitting there stealthed outside each of these countries waiting for the word to push the button and kill thousands/millions.

I have come to the conclusion that I don't give a shit about NKorea, Iran or Russia anymore. I just want them to come shake the bees nest and bring mutually assured destruction.
The Human Race is by and large a failure in all aspects.
