Good job as always Gary!

Have ingredients for Oral Rehydrating Solution (ORS) to deal with issues of dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea. It's just sugar, salt, and clean water.
[link to rehydrate.org]

I would include Ivy-Dry as that help dry up a bad case of poison ivy. I also would buy some preparation H or similar as that applied to a rash will work WAY BETTER. It contains jewelweed extract that's why it works. In less than sanitary condition, poison ivy or any contact dermatitis will become infected very easily.

Plain saline is good to have on hand in case you need to irrigate a wound or eye.

Naproxen is an especially fine analgesic for back pain. It works when someone has bad arthritis and the other won't touch it.

Use generics as much as possible to save money.

Tea tree oil works well in countless ways. It can be diluted.

A wonderful thing to keep on hand when vomiting is Emetrol. It has phosphoric acid in it, the same ingredient as Coke. That ingredient reduces the stomach contractions when combined with sugar.

Pet antibiotics can be purchased from farm supply places and you know the ingredients are the same and dosages too. Funny coincidence, huh?

Alcohol is a great disinfectant.

Cleans out wounds, if you ate bad food it also cleans out your stomach.

Make sure its everclear 90%

------------------

Penicillin is also great, but some people are allergic too it so make sure too have an alternative anti biotic.

Some generic anti virals are also good, the kind for herpie treatment has a thousand other uses as well. It makes you feel like crap though.

-------------------

Asthma inhalers are a must.

and hand sanitizer.

Cheers to the info. We just had our first kid, so this was eye opening that I have to go buy some kid meds.

Also, a few notes. The 10% Povidone iodine can be used to purify water. No need to buy iodine tabs, or that polar iodine bottle shaker thingy.

Here is a chart of how much to use. [link to www.getreadygear.com]

My only other comment has to do with triple antibiotic. It can cause issues with young kids...and even adults in some cases. My cousin -who is a dermatologist- says that the triple can have some adverse reactions...she recommends the double antibiotic cream for the little ones.

That is all...thanks again sir.

It's there to start the thread. Keep adding as you did, and we'll all benefit.

BTW, aspirin is a fine medication, and for severe pain, aspirin and ibuprofen act synergistically. Just don't overdo it.

Re: Top OTC Medications for the Prepper/Survivalist
The strongest and most effective natural antibiotic is made by bees and is called PROPOLIS.It is the black antibacterial layer between the hive and comb. Obviously not suitable for people allergic to bees or bee products !! always do a patch test on wrist before first use.
In drop/liquid form.
Can be taken internally or diluted in a small amount of water to apply to the skin.
It is one of natures powerful ingrediants.
Also available in a balm and toothpaste.
Definate must have and go to in anyones first aid kit.

you pretty much paid the most for the least.
If you knew what you were doing you could have gotten 10 times as much for the same price.
How much did you pay for that tube of glucose gel? It has the equivalent of 3 sugar packets worth of sugar in it.
I bet you could buy a 1# bag of sugar for less but if you want pure glucose solution you simply buy a bottle of clear corn syrup and put some in screw top container of appropriate size.

good video OP.....

my top choice is Mucinex-DM. I woke up with a wicked burning soar throat a few weeks ago and took 2 600mg tablets. 30 minutes later the soar throat was 95% gone. I've never had anything knock out a soar throat like that before.

I'm glad you think so. That saves me from having to take care of you when the SHTF. Meanwhile, I'll help my neighbors who are more humble when things get bad. It's impossible to work with someone like you, for you've already decided to stereotype all preppers as being one particular way and in the worst possible light.

brush up on what nature has to offer ..

suture kit, butterfly bandages, moleskin, pads (can double as bandages), tweezers, and much more ..

I was wondering about this too. Glucose gel is good for its intended usage - quickly increasing the blood sugar of someone who is semiconscious or unconscious. However, most people who aren't diabetic aren't going to drop so low that they need that.

I've seen diabetics recommend gel cake frosting. Sealed, equally effective, and much cheaper.

Get 50,000 IU vitamin D3 pills. It is basically universal vaccines against flu, cold, cancer, etc.

All you have to do is take one pill every 1-2 weeks during cold months.

Best thing THAT PREVENTS sore throat is Vitamin D3. I've noticed that after taking 5000 IU a day 4 years ago mainly to prevent sinus infection.

Works too good to believe that it actually works.
