I basically got this, replacement laptop, and that was about it. Most people have a consensus that it has become more of a status simple than a functionality. For the price they charge I could buy just about anything else. However, I want my wife to be happy so any suggestion as to what would be a good supplement for the ipad would be helpful. |

Movies? They can be watched through an ipod. Books? Ipod as well. She won't walk around with it wherever she goes. She just wants something a little bigger for home. It will sit on the coffee table for the entire day. When she gets home from work she then starts to play on her ipod, which she wants to be an ipad now. It has a smaller hard-drive for double the price. |

I ended up buying the Asus Transformer Prime 32gb and I am so thrilled with it. Picked it up for about $350.00. Look into it. The Ipad is a proprietary piece of garbage compared to this tablet! ( fwiw I'm not anti Mac, I have a MacBook Pro and love it!) For the money though I would not buy Mac again, just not worth the $. Thanks Spend $329 on an Ipad mini, then in 3 months the new Ipad mini will make your $329 purchase obsolete. If you actually wait 6 months, Apple will have released their Ipad mini 4  |

Go to this page: [link to reviews.cnet.com] They have a review, do a google search also for more options and different tablets. Do some research online, do not just buy an iPad, explain to your wife the disadvantages and advantages of different models and Operating Systems (OS) (operating system or OS is basically like Windows and Macintosh, it is the system that runs all the programs and features, certain things are not compatible with certain operating systems.) Great for surfing the internet, especially GLP, Pinterest, recipes, email. The mini is too small, and tablets aren't as pretty visually. The full size iPad is like candy to my eyes and brain. Get her one...she'll love it and you. A laptop or desktop is better for some things sitting at a desk and typing a long email or word document, or using software like excel for spreadsheets and other more detailed tasks...(and I will always need one), but I spend 98% of my time surfing the net on my iPad at home, using our home wi-fi connection. |

Doesn't matter if you don't think it's worth it, don't research other devices, don't try to see if it's worth it, and don't try to make the decision for her. If she wants the iPad then get her a damn iPad. She is not your kid, she is your wife, get her what she wants not what you think she should have. My wife is getting an iPad mini this year and my only thoughts on it were, "if that's what my sweetie wants then that's what my sweetie gets", period. It's pretty simple really.......... |
