We have these all over. One is always in the house. They are harmless to the best of my knowledge. They stay away from the food, just walk around the ceiling, although we had one we gave up on trying to get rid of and he started landing on my husbands shoulder, and you could see his little pin head look up at him, like he was just hanging out.
