What happend 5200 yrs ago and may be happening now.

I was with the article until it started saying that humans might be responsible or partially responsible. Climate change is the result of the sun. Period.

I browsed some links in his wikipedia page, and one takes to several of his peer revewed publications with pdfs to download. Thompson is clearly a man made global warming advocate. Nevertheless, one should look to the data and forgive his taken a stance on the origins of the weather. In the abstract of this article from 2010 he summarizes his worries:

The Glaciers serve as early indicators of climate change. Over the last 35 years, our research team has
recovered ice-core records of climatic and environmental variations from the polar regions and
from low-latitude, high-elevation ice fields from 16 countries. The ongoing widespread melting of
high-elevation glaciers and ice caps, particularly in low to middle latitudes, provides some of the
strongest evidence to date that a large-scale, pervasive, and, in some cases, rapid change in
Earth's climate system is underway. This paper highlights observations of 20th and 21st century
glacier shrinkage in the Andes, the Himalayas, and on Mount Kilimanjaro. Ice cores retrieved
from shrinking glaciers around the world confirm their continuous existence for periods ranging
from hundreds of years to multiple millennia, suggesting that climatological conditions that
dominate those regions today are different from those under which these ice fields large,
accumulated and have been sustained. The current warming is therefore unusual when viewed
from the millennial perspective provided by multiple lines of proxy evidence and the 160-year
the record of direct temperature measurements. Despite all this evidence, plus the well-documented
continual increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, societies have taken little
action to address this global-scale problem. Hence, the rate of global carbon dioxide emissions
continues to accelerate. As a result of our inaction, we have three options: mitigation,
adaptation, and suffering.

It really DOESN'T MATTER if Lonnie Thompson believes in man-made Global Warming today...


What REALLY matters is that he concluded that 5,200 years ago (exactly at the time when the Mayan calendar starts) there was SUDDEN cooling of the world climate, caused by a drop in the activity of the Sun.

According to him, this chance was so SUDDEN, that some plants were perfectly preserved in the ice!!!


And this is not "any" scientist. It's a member of the National Academy of Science of the United States, and a recipient of the National Medal of Science!


Can you see the implications of this?

Due to a drop in the activity of the Sun, there was a SUDDEN global colling that trapped perfectly preserved plants!

And this happened exactly at the time when the Mayan calendar starts!!!

"Thompson believes that the 5,200-year old event may have been caused by a dramatic fluctuation in solar energy reaching the earth. Scientists know that a historic global cooling called the Little Ice Age, from 1450 to 1850 A.D., coincided with two periods of decreased solar activity.

Evidence shows that around 5,200 years ago, solar output first dropped precipitously and then surged over a short period. It is this huge solar energy oscillation that Thompson believes may have triggered the climate change he sees in all those records."



There was no Industrial Revolution or man-made pollution 5,200 years ago...

The alignment this time has never happened.

God tells us in the Bible that he would never wipe out the earth via such a massive, all encompassing flood again.

Yet what comes this way will be likely very interesting, one way or another.
