The right to own a firearm, is based on the right to self-defense, i.e., the right to those means to defend oneself against those who wish to destroy one’s life. The right to self-defense is itself is a corollary of the right to life (a corollary is here defined as a self-evident implication of a general principle).

It would be absurd to say one has the right to life, but does not have the right to the means necessary to protect that life. It would be like saying one has the right to life, but not the right to purchase food. Yet, this is what opponents to the right to own a gun are really against: the right to life.

Unfortunately, it is the right to life, that is ignored in the debate over the right to bear arms, both by its opponents, and by its so-called defenders!

The field of battle on which gun control should be fought is exactly on this issue: man’s rights. Statistical arguments on gun control are a red herring — as the leftists’ appeals to hungry children or the environmentalists’ appeals to clean parks are also meant to distract their opponents from the fundamental issues at stake. While the National Rifle Association (NRA) and other defenders of the right to bear arms argue over statistics and interpreting the Constitution, the real issues remain untouched and are sacrificed to the enemies of our freedom.

Anyone that thinks shit like that have the mental profile of someone that would shoot up a school.

Another school shooting, great, another reason for them to take our guns. Yet, there have still been no mention of the Fourty Improvised Explosive Devices that have thus far been found and disarmed without incident THIS YEAR. I wonder, if one of these goes off because our brave men and women don't get there on time once, will the MSM actually report on it. Or will they label it a gas explosion or something?

This is the problem with crazy people, they are crazy, they will use whatever weapon is available to do harm. It has been this way since the begining. Cave men were friggin beating eachother with rocks and sticks and it will contiue to happen no matter what BIG BRO bans.

When my sons were growing up all the high school people carried rifles in the back of their cab in their trucks, it is interesting that there were never any shootings in the school. Our school is one long school, having guns around makes other people think twice, after school the coaches would have gun safety practice for anyone. We had a scooting range. When you take guns away it makes it easy for anyone to use a gun against unarmed children or people. I would not send my child back to public school if I were the parents. Home school or get other parents to start a home school. These children will take years to get over this.

i live in this town and care for two children who go to the school. absolutely horrible. this is unfathomable in newtown. i was in such a panic and thank god the news caught the kids i watch walking safely with their parents on camera. insane relief.

its reported the principal was killed. they said the kids were told to close their eyes while being evacuated past the main office :(

Waiting periods? Is that your solution? Would a waiting period have stopped the psycho in Oregon? No because his gun was stolen. Do you think this school shooter stopped at the gun shop on his way to the school? I highly doubt he did.

No gun control that liberals want to enact will have any effect on gun deaths. The fact is if you want a gun you are going to get it. If you want to kill you are going to kill with or without a gun. And before you say 'well they couldn't kill as many without a gun' let me remind you of Oklahoma City, the cult with the gas in Japan, the Jones guy, and so on and so on.

Banning guns out right is not the answer. Waiting periods, extreme licensing and background checks is the not too much to ask.
