Someone touched on this on another blog. The problem has little to do with gun control, it's the fact that we have deinstitutionalized the mentally ill. Years ago, the mentally ill with violent or erratic tendencies were locked up. In today's PC world, we treat them with a court ordered short term stay at a state mental hospital and then send them home with Abilify or Clozaril and expect them to be compliant with their meds and blend in-with minimal outpatient involvement. There's no doubt that this kid was a ticking time bomb, and apparently everyone in the neighborhood knew it. And for those of you who think this is an insensitive view, get a job at a state psych hospital. I worked for a state hospital in KY as an RN a couple years back. I had a Schizophrenic guy that was cool with me and polite but I had found out he was having some major delusions about me and was plotting some sort of weird attack. This was brought to staff's attention by other patients. Bottom line is: you cannot trust paranoid schizophrenics for a minute. Turn your back on them and see what happens. I have no doubt that this kid was seriously ill and should have been committed a LONG time ago.

I live in Maine, historically one of the safest states with regard to violent crime in the nation. We have had armed police in our junior high/high schools for years. I guess no one expected to need them in elementary schools.

Only tears obama had was of JOY that everything is right of track and going right according to the plan.. wont be long until WW3 and NWO breaks out

Saw someone on tv talking about this today. People/doctors are so afraid to demand treatment for those who don't want to be treated or think they do not need it. Nowadays, the loonies have more rights than the victims. We give them jobs making little umbrellas for our cocktails so they are "useful" members of our society when they belong in a psych ward. But nobody has the guts to commit them. We have passed the point of tolerance and gone to our own form of insanity.

If the brother that is detained is found to have been complicit, there should be a public hanging. Fuck the justice system.
