Almost anyone can learn how to lock the bolt and pull a trigger and aim at a target, but to operate the weapon under duress is entirely different. The guy was a pyscotic murderer, who killed his own mother,and then attacked those he knew could not shoot back. Ill follow up this with an example, In WWII, the highly trained Germans simply mowed over the Soviet conscripts due to training. The Soviets knew how to operate their rifles for the most part,but until they gained experience, they were easily defeated.Another example would be the Chinese conscripts put in front of the Japanese,again they knew how to operate the rifle, but not how to use it to the best effectiveness. fast forward to 1950, the same Chinese soldiers nearly overan Korea. So you would be talking proper military training for the teachers then. How would you deal with the problem of gun storage? Obviously to deal with a situation like that would require fast access but the guns would have to be kept safe from the kids as well. Didn't I read something about smart guns calibrated to individual handprints or something similar? I doubt any sort of training would prepare a person for a combat type situation involving children, can't imagine how stressful that must be. Erm....I would have thought guns are extremely dangerous on a plane lol. I think its the thought of having guns in such close quarters to children that (understandably) makes people shy at the idea. It seems a lot of people are looking for a less violent world to live in, its a nice sentiment, just probably not very realistic.
