I had just moved my kids from the school and they would have been in that classroom if I had not moved them. It was devastating to see all the parents on the news that I'd seen over the last year frantically coming to get their kids. Not as tragic as this one though. However, the point I wanted to make is the daycare facility I moved them to had a security system setup where parents were given a passcode to punch in at the door in order to get in. This has become common place in daycares but havent seen public schools use this yet I guess their too open. |

So I looked it up. I'm astounded really. The move is one of a series of measures designed to keep education staff from leaving the violence-hit south. Many of the region's teachers are thought to have either stopped working or demanded a transfer from the area. More than 700 people, including at least 24 teachers, have been killed since January 2004 in unrest which the government blames on Islamic militants. Teachers are often targeted as they are seen as symbols of Thailand's Buddhist authorities And that was written in 2005. I know the violence in southern Thailand has increased tremendously over the last few years. So the numbers must be much higher now. What a shame it has come to this. |

No one needs to be entering the building, the teachers are already there. If a parent is called in or needs to come for something it can be dealt with outside of the door or arrangements can be made prior to them coming. The last company I worked for, the building was locked at all times, you had to have a code to get in and if you didn't have it you weren't allowed in the building. Makes no sense to me why schools are left wide open when they hold the most precious things in our life. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.
