You COULD visit there yourself for free, but you'd have to walk, bicycle, drive (gas $$$), and pay for all the supplies you'd need on such a long trek. In a limited lifespan, time is money. Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders. |

Great ride across the pampas in Arg. and then up and over the Andes into Santiago. From there go south to Puerto Montt and chaeck out the hot springs on the glaciers. Then go north to Peru. Then go back to Santiago and get a ticket to Buenos Aires. You should try to go to Salvador in Brazil. Its a days bus ride north from Sau Paulo. 100$ a day should more than cover you. |

Quoting: Jackie Howe 29848411 I can do Melb-Bkk-Tokyo-Seoul-Dubai-Cairo-Venice-Miami-San Diego-Melb for about $5837. So I get in Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, Cairo, and Venice before landing in San Diego, where I plan to bus/fly into South America. Or I can do Melb-Mexico City-Bogota-Sao Paulo-Lima-Quito-Miami-Cairo-Dubai-Tokyo-Melb for about $7k. I miss out on Venie and Seoul (been to San Diego before). Its only $1000 more, but covers South America. Does anyone have a link for a good bus company that does South America? If I did the first one, from SD, I plan to do Mexico City, Bogota, Rio, Sao Paulo, Uruguay, La Paz, Lima, and Quito. Could I bus the whole way, or would I have to fly from Bogota to Rio? Would $100 a day cover food and accom? I wouldnt go to south america id I were you, unless you want to be robbed. |

Would $100 a day cover food and accom? Man, $100 is NOTHING. Specially in Rio. Just the taxi may cost you more than 30 bucks and won't be so easy to find hotels at the last minute because flood of people go to Rio. São Paulo is the machine of Brazil but there's traffic jam all over the place, it's better just stay in Rio. Walk near Copacabana hotel , walk down the beach, drink a beer, eat fried shrimps. From La Paz to Lima is okey if you travel by the so-called "train of death" and bus to Machu Picchu and then go to Lima for 2 or 3 days. In La Paz go to Valley of the Moon which looks like the moon because Chacaltaya mountain is without snow unless is winter there. Ask if there's snow, it's worthless without snow. The deset of salt and Titicaca river is worth seeing it. Lima is better than Quito , you have to remember Lima and Cuzco were the place where Spanish conquerors built the Arabic sort of construction which is all over the place specially in Lima old downtown. Bogota is a nice play too and Mexico city. What the hell are you gonna see in Uruguay except Punta del Este? Compared with Peru, Colombia and Mexico is a waste of money!!! Taste seafood in these countries and in Peru as well you should eat "pollo a la brasa" which is chicken done in a special sort of barbacue. Tamales in Colombia, a lot of excellent food in Mexico, Peru and Brazil. Don't eat red meat in Peru but the best is in Brazil and Argentina. |
