Active Shooter Training - When seconds count your life will depend on this video!
Best video I've seen on how to respond.

Re: Active Shooter Training - When seconds count your life will depend on this video!
I thought about today's tragic events. Adam Lanza was a young adult, white male with no military record, kinda fits the profile of other past shooters, i.e. James Holmes Aurora Colorado, Jared Loughner Gifford's shooting in Tucson Arizona, etc.

Anyway, I think responsible law biting gun owners are aware that their responsibility in owning a gun is a responsibility to others who also lawfully own guns. Carelessness will not only revoke their right and endanger lives but will also jeopardize the Right to Bear Arms for others. I think responsible gun owners know this and cannot bear the thought to risk this right of others by ever committing such a heinous crime like the one today.

That's why the likes of Adam Lanza probably never had a gun safety course, and never understood civic responsibilities, or never valued the US Constitution.

I think if there are to be new laws enacted on gun protection and safety it must address the heart of the psychology behind lawful gun ownership and that is to engender responsibility.

Every gun owner should know the Right to Bear Arms is also a "sacred" trust requiring its protection by acting responsibly on the behalf of others who would also bare arms. I think that is something that should be taught well before a person ever buys or receives (legally) any gun.

I'm not sure I agree with that video.

Firstly, running out the first exit could be a big mistake. How do you know the shooter is acting alone? Wouldn't a well-planned attack include other shooters positioned at the exits to mow down anybody attempting to escape?

I would feel much safer knowing that my group, be it a work environment or a public place, included at least a few people armed with concealed weapons and ready to QUICKLY put an end to any such attacks.

Just knowing that there might be people shooting back at them could prevent a shooting spree from happening in the first place.

I recall hearing years ago about a community that even posted signs saying that every home in that community was armed. Needless to say, the crime rate dropped dramatically. I take that to mean criminals prefer to commit their crimes where there is the least chance of being shot at.

The video trains to the lowest common denominator, in that most work place environments prohibits guns.

If yours allows it, so be it. And chances are your work place will never have an active shooter incident.

What I was trying to say is the government is going about it all the wrong way. I don't think the answer is to disarm the victims. Actually ARMING the potential victims could prevent a lot of violent crimes from happening.

There's an old saying that when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

If there had been armed security at the school or even perhaps a principal who had access to a firearm, the whole episode in Connecticut could have had a completely different outcome.

Not only that, how many copycat killers out there would be willing to walk into a situation where they KNOW people will be shooting back at them? I'm guessing, very, very few if any.
