It starts off in elementary school with substances like ritalin & adderal.

Adults have accepted the prescription pill 'quick fix' ideology so they usually have no qualms about allowing their children to ingest pills that affects their mood & brain chemistry.

Yes, our society is ill and prescription pills are not only part of the problem but also a symptom of our society being fucked up.

They numb the crazy angry person with prescriptions and call him cured!

Then one day he snaps and is now a 100% cured numb crazy angry person!

Sort of begs the question: if these kids were given opioid drugs for depression/anxiety/paranoia, as America did until ~1950, could the idea of "antidepressants inspiring shootings" idea even exist?

I think not. Even hard-core heroin addicts don't do anything close to this awful (school shootings); they don't want to try to "go down in history", they just want the next dose.

And it's not like opioid addiction actually takes a toll on the brain/body, unlike antidepressants/antipsychotics which are neurotoxic and carry a wide array of side effects.

No the problem is when they are misprescribed. There is a good degree of research and info on that subject, and some kids (and rats, fish, monkeys, what have you) are actually helped by stimulants.

ADD is caused by dysfunctioning dopaminergic neuron systems. I am of the opinion that ADD and especially ADHD are over diagnosed, but there are some people for whom stimulants aid brain development.

What we need is better diagnoses.

IF you ban guns then dangerous people will still get their hands on them rendering the rest of us even more defenseless.

Crack is illegal but people still get that... Alcohol is illegal for minors and they still get their hand on some somehow...Speeding is illegal and we all do that. How could ANYONE think banning guns would keep them out of the hands of the people who shouldn't have them?! Personally it's going to make them want one even more: A. because you've told them they cannot have it and B. because they don't have to worry about a random citizen having a lawfully concealed weapon.

They do not pull their own trigger...a HUMAN has to. Leave the gun laws alone and take a look at the HUMANS behind these incidents. Something is seriously wrong with these people and we need to fix that!! I really wish mental illness was treated more seriously instead of just throwing some drugs at it to make it go away. Drugs MASK the issue they don't actually cure the mental illness. I know sometimes people actually NEED these medications....but no one tries to fix the problem causing them to need them. I think there is something seriously wrong if we live in a society when I have to worry about getting shot by someone who forgot to take their pill for 2 days.

If our world today is full of people who need to take medication just to be able to mentally cope with life then something is seriously wrong!

I agree with you about miss-diagnosis but the overlying problem is that our society has become conditioned to look for 'quick fixes' in the form of pills. Pills for depression, pills for anxiety, pills for erectile dysfunction, pills for insomnia, pills for restless legs, pills for lack of energy, etc etc... The list goes on and on. More often than not the pills are designed to treat symptoms and not the root causes of the 'problems'. For instance pills don't cure depression, they mask the symptoms of depression while failing to address the root cause of that depression to begin with.

So did he do this cause he was on pills or off of them ? I'm so confused.

Right now it's just speculation, we'll find out from the coroner's report after the autopsy of the shooter.

They will protect big pharma before they protect the American people.

Agreed that they have become known as a "quick fix" and that this is a questionable habit.

However the fact remains that people shouldn't have to suffer if we know a way around it. Depression, anxiety, and paranoia only hurt our society and especially the individual saddled with the problem.

If drugs can relieve meaningless suffering then they should be employed unless we know of a better way. Clearly as a society we haven't got that far.

Mental disorders are swept under the rug, nobody attempts to understand them, even the victims, if they are successfully conditioned into psychiatry.

His wife and two daughters were tortured, raped and murdered. And by the way not THAT many kids are given ritalin. Ritalin is still the standard in the US: analogous chemicals are marketed in other countries.

The USA consumes more antidepressants than any other country as well: the difference is that prescribing stimulants for severe ADD has decades of scientific backing.

This goes deeper than just the use of psych drugs. It has ramped up now to narcosynthesis or drugged hypnosis and then adding a posthypnotic suggestion based on what the kid told a psych in confidence, like he hates his mother cause she loves her students more than me. Plug in the suggestion and then give him the stimulus word to kick in the hate and the kill signal. This is the stuff you saw on manchurian candidate. Mind control through the use of drugs. It is as old as history itself. Suicide bombers were drugged and given the posthypnotic suggestion to fly your plane into the American ships for your country. Hashish was used to accomplish this.
Suicide bombers in Iraq and other middles eastern countries use the drugs to get their people to blow themselves up for Mohammed.

So if you take too much ecstasy/MDMA and you burn out your serotonin receptor sites, you take Ayahuasca and they grow back and you're no longer depressed.
