Americans, you need to ban guns now. You say "guns don't kill people, people kill people" but guns are a dangerous tool when in the wrong hands. You take away guns, you take away that power that insane murderers have. Every man and his dog own a firearm in the US and is it really necessary?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29850873

Are you kidding me? Guns ARE an inanimate objects, nothing more. It IS people who make the choice to pull the trigger. Do you really think that a law banning guns keep them out of the hands of criminals? For your information criminals do not care about laws for shit sake. This guy could have lost it and drove a vehicle into a crowded playground killing as many children-- does that mean vehicles should now be banned as well? By placing blame anywhere other than the offender you are letting that person get away with it.

let's ban banning things

cocaine is illegal, weed is illegal, heroin is illegal but it still isnt hard to get it

all banning guns will do is make it easier for a psycho, for a murderer, for any bad person to get a gun easier

FUCKING STUPID

we just need a good natural disaster to sift out the good from bad

god isnt real, it's obvious

praying is for people who have ran out of real ideas so fuck you christians, we need a strong leader who will preach this

j-bird...bitch im writing a new song now and gonna post it on my soundcloud over that faggy ass gangnam style beat so maybe i can atleast reach one or two people

You Aussies let your government take away YOUR guns and crime has gone UP since you turned the guns over to be destroyed.

<<< Even Australia's Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acknowledges that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime:

In 2006, assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.
Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.
Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent. >>> [link to www.ncpa.org]

All since the gun ban.

So keep your opinions to yourself, thank you very much, we don't need your failed philosophy.

We don't have gun massacres here in Australia.
Crime like murder is actually very low here. Not that you would know though. Ignorance breeds ignorance.

Agree. The guns aren't the problem. For example, see the Swiss with every home housing military-grade weapons.

The drugs are part and parcel of this problem, and have been from the get-go.

Poison is a dangerous tool when in the wrong hands.

So where do you stop.

Not trying to belittle the event, because it is tragic, but a blanket ban on guns is not the answer.

You - Look at the crime rate in your country. Since the gun ban, now criminals have little fear of getting shot doing a home invasion.

IMO if anything the govt should do more stringent background checks and look for nutjobs and ban sales to anybody on anti depressants.

If just one teacher with balls, or better yet the principle had a pistol, this would have ended.

Everybody that goes into a school should have to go through a metal detector and people that dont belong there or are visiting during hours should be searched.

Back in the 70's you did not see this type of behavior as much, but then all the teenagers and young adults were not taking prozac.

Re: Don't ban guns. Ban psychotropic drugs.
ive been on psychotropic medication since i was 21 years old ... the only time i got into trouble was when i stopped taking them ... ive been diagnosed with schizophrenia most of my adult life; im 49 now ... i have lived a productive and successful life while taking an anti-psychotic medication ... the media has hyped people with "classic", chemical-imbalance mental illnesses like schizophrenia, mania, etc as dangerous, violent people, when the fact is they are far more likely to be the victims of crime ... the maniacal mass murderers you hear about like in today's incident are usually victims of profound abuse or some other traumatic event(s), and are classified as having environmentally-based disorders such as borderline personality disorder, etc ... in other words, they are classified as psychopaths ... making statements that come straight from your ass about these matters only shows your ignorance of the true facts, or your vulnerability to stigma that is perpetuated by mass media who are making money from their exaggerations

Are you a scientologist by any chance? Yes its likely that mentally ill people would be on some sort of medication but does the person shoot up a place because they are mentally ill or because they were on medication? They don't just grab joe the plumber off the streets and start feeding him mental illness drugs....these people either enter treatment on their own or are referred their by family or the courts because they are MENTALLY ILL.

Re: Don't ban guns. Ban psychotropic drugs.
Sticking to the subject of this thread.....

psychotropic drugs? My husband has been on many over the past two years. Perfectly normal nice guy before that - lost his nice job and had to get a shit job to get off unemployment. It was long grueling hours and he started using those 8 hour energy drinks. The more he used them the more he got hooked and he literally began abusing them like a drug.

I don't want to hear that the stuff in these are all natural vitamins etc. BS! My husband became a totally different person once he went down this path.

Now he is diagnosed bi-polar and is on multiple drugs and they do nothing for him. He continues to abuse the energy shots, stops for a while but goes right back to them like a druggie....this coupled with the psychotropic meds is a nightmare that won't end.

So yes, I say ban the psychotropic drugs. Go read the adverse events of these anti-psychotic drugs...they can even make you psychotic.

He had likely been on prescription mind drugs for a long time.

From: Citizens Commission on Human Rights International [link to www.cchrint.org]

At least fourteen recent school shootings were committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs. There have been 109 wounded and 58 killed.

Of these 14, seven were seeing either a psychiatrist (5 of them) or psychologist (2 of them). It is not known whether or not the other half were seeing a psychiatrist, as it has not been published.

Huntsville, Alabama – February 5, 2012: 15-year-old Hammad Memon shot and killed another Discover Middle School student Todd Brown. Memon had a history for being treated for ADHD and depression. He was taking the antidepressant Zoloft and “other drugs for the conditions.” He had been seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist.
Kauhajoki, Finland – September 23, 2008: 22-year-old culinary student Matti Saari shot and killed 9 students and a teacher, and wounded another student, before killing himself. Saari was taking an SSRI and a benzodiazapine. He was also seeing a psychologist.
Dekalb, Illinois – February 14, 2008: 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak shot and killed five people and wounded 21 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amount of Xanax in his system. He had been seeing a psychiatrist.

That's what doctors do...they push drugs, and if you look at the listed side effects, every one of them have suicidal and/or homicidal thoughts as a listed side effect!!!
