Guns Are Not The Problem

People are the problem. While the anti gun fanatics are currently drooling all over themselves because of this Conneticut tragedy, the American public are being fooled again, IMO. No matter how many gun control laws there are, criminals will circumvent them, or use a secondary weapon. The case in China today, where 22 children got attacked by a knife wielding adult, is a good example of this. There has been many incidents across the globe in societies that ban guns, where attacks on people still happen, with tragic loss of life. No matter what we ban, the criminals will come up with something else to use as their weapon.
Before you exhibit a knee jerk reaction to this tragedy, consider this, the punk killed his mother, and stole her guns, which were legally purchased. Gun laws were in place, as they are across the country. Laws do not stop shootings. Look at all the shootings in Chicago any given weekend. Chicago has the strictest gun laws of any community in the nation, that I am aware of. Yet, Chicago is a war zone. The good people are prevented from arming themselves for protections sake, but the criminals have no trouble obtaining firepower.
Maybe, just maybe, some of these deaths today could have been prevented, if we had properly trained and armed personnel in this elementary school. But our schools, long labeled as "Safe Zones", will not allow a gun within it's boundaries. This false safety of banning guns has made our schools anything but safe.
