(And Famous Hemp Quotes) Marijuana is like alcohol - it's OK for occasional recreation or relaxation. The problem is that some people will abuse it - drive while high, operate machinery at work while high, use it so much it affects them permanently, etc. Too many people have addiction-prone personalities. |

They are much more dissimilar than similar. - Alcohol is strictly a depressant, while marijuana is either a stimulant or depressant depending on the strain/variety - Alcohol is fatal, poisonous to the liver/body - marijuana is non-fatal and has many proven medical uses/applications. - Alcohol dulls one's sense of perception - Alcohol decreases inhibitions that normally prevent individuals from engaging in certain types of behavior. For this reason violence and alcohol go hand in hand. Alcohol promotes a false sense of invulnerability. Marijuana promotes a sense of well-being & pacifism. There is no connection between violent behavior & marijuana. - Alcohol can cause black-outs and a person will lose all conscious memory of their actions - which is very dangerous. - Withdrawal from alcohol produces severe physical effects and can be fatal. Withdrawal from marijuana is mostly psychological and has only subtle & minor short-lived physical effects. Mostly the perceived 'similarities' come from societal definitions of 'drugs' and from the understanding that both substances can be abused - but these categorizations can apply to many different substances across the board. When one breaks down the phsyiological and psychological effects of both substances, it becomes evident that they are indeed very different from one another.
