Why are there psychologists in elementary schools in the first place?

the better to mold their minds!

Don't know about CT, but in many States now, schools are required to provide "education" for all children including those with mental and physical impairments. The schools have become nothing but 'day care centers' for mentally ill and physically handicapped children for parents who lack the resources to be able to care for them during the day while they work. Some of the kids are so impaired they need non-stop nursing care during the school day as well as psychological treatment or oversight. Hence the reason for a "Psychologist" in the school. The majority of these kids are of no threat to the rest of the regular kids in the school, but there are a few that are mentally unbalanced enough that this tradgedy might become a common occurrence as time goes on. Sad but true, I think. Can't imagine who thought it was a good idea to 'mix' everyone together. An accident waiting to happen, as well as an unnecessary burden on school budgets caring for these severely handicapped children. In my book, schools were not meant to be Nursing Homes. They are ill equipped to deal with a lot of the handicapped kids. Harsh but true.

That's what the mental hospitals were suppose to be for but they're shutting those down. Like you said, a school is not equipped to deal with these types of kids. I would bet everything I know on those psychologists not only working with the mentally ill kids in those schools.

1) Act as surrogates for Big Pharma and prescribe a bevy of drug cocktails to kids.

2) Act as intermediary parental figures in place of real parents either too busy to take care of their kids or who are completely failing at the job as a parent.

3) To fill the gap where parents are unable to financially or otherwise provide for their mentally challenged child.

4) To help "care" for more and more children with mental disorders due to poison in the water, food and vaccines, in addition to the mental stress and disorders caused by divorced families, abusive parents and single parents.
