Re: Christians...I am a newly saved christian myself...BUT I'M SOO BOOORED...what do you all do in your spare time??
Matthew 12:43-45

43“Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it.44“Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order.45“Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”

Hi Op. That's awesome that you found the lord...but just as some helpful advice...when we leave the things of the world...when we clean our house so to speak...that's fine and that's one thing, but just be aware...there will come a day when some of those old devils will want back in the house. The only way I know of to make sure they don't sneak back in is to make sure the house is constantly occupied by the new owner...Jesus.

I would suggest the following:

1. Find ways to fellowship with other christians. That doesn't mean 24/7 bible study...christians do lots of fun social activities to, but they won't draw you down into sin like hanging out with a bad crowd would.

2. Seek the lord for a greater purpose, and ask for him to teach you, raise you up and give you a burning desire to fulfill his purpose for your life...

What I mean by number 2 is this...the christian walk isn't just about getting clean and free from the control of sin in your life...theres much more than that. Others need help too...and God has something planned for your life. You used to get satisfaction out of the things of the world, but now that those are gone, you need to find your satisfaction in the things of God...and grow in that over time.

When we are a child, the toys of a child amuse us, but as we grow up, they lose their pleasure in loo of more important things. In a world that needs God as much as it does, there are some really important things that God may have in store for your life, but you may need to prepare for those things first before your ready. Pray for God to give you the desire to fulfill that, and that you may find the delight and satisfaction that you need in them and not the things of the world. One day you will look back on something as simple as a video game or a worldly movie and think of it as a silly waste of time, that holds no more pleasure for you than would a childs toy to you now. But that comes after you begin to find your real joy and delight in fulfilling God's purpose for your life. Growth, sanctification, and preparation come before this...and remember, the Devil wants you back, so be aware and watchful, because he wants you back for one reason...to destroy you, and he isn't playing around either.

Find your delights in God...and in helping others. be filled with God's spirit and his love, and all the former things will fade away as you conform to the image of christ.

Become a doctor and have a hospital wing named after you ....
or do what James suggests and don't worry about it ever ending. You also get to still check out all the various doctrines and see which one you agree with most, another task that might be without end.

Jas:2:14:
What doth it profit,
my brethren,
though a man say he hath faith,
and have not works?
can faith save him?
Jas:2:15:
If a brother or sister be naked,
and destitute of daily food,
Jas:2:16:
And one of you say unto them,
Depart in peace,
be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what doth it profit?
Jas:2:17:
Even so faith,
if it hath not works,
is dead,
being alone.

Go out and spend time with people, give yourself and your time to others. That is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Be kind, look for ways to stay busy helping people and you wont be bored. It doesn't have to be a soup kitchen, spending time with the lonely just having a good time to lift their spirits and yours too is fine.

Thats really all there is. Loving God, and loving people.

I worked out that becoming a follower of Christ is a 2 step process.

I gave my heart, faith to Jesus,
and left it at that.

Was a few months later I asked to be filled the the Holy Spirit.

It was like changing gears

lOl, funny - dont do worldly activities on the Sabbath. Otherwise as long as it's not sinful there is plenty to keep yourself occupied & busy.

I'm no TV watcher since it is nothing but lies from the enemy of man, but is it a sin to watch TV? probably not. Same with video games.

Helps a lot to be around others with similar interests. Thus churches, or online.

Since u r 20, you need to be educating yourself in something that WILL be of service to God, so learn an instrument, or a trade which is useful to others.

My dh is an oncology nurse -- every day he gets to minister to people facing possible death and ripe to share about what really matters in this life, for the next.

You have to find new friends. You don't have to witness to the old ones at every opportunity. Once each is enough, then politely move into a new circle of friends.

If you hang around "the old crowd" you WILL backslide. Been there; done that. Finally had to relocate myself 150 miles away to get a fresh start with new habits.

Yes, pre-saved I used to think, 'how boring', 'what will I do to entertain myself?'

There's a saying: Quiet pleasures soon grow tiresome to minds worn out by frivolous excitements.

It's absolutely true. I was a bar-hopping party girl from 16 to 30, and couldn't find pleasure in anything quiet.

Totally different after a year or so away from the old crowd with lots of quiet time on my hands.

but at my job is a diff story. lots of people my age who don't know Jesus. Can't exactly get away from those people though because it's my job and i gotta go. But i'll just leave it to Jesus, he'll figure something out..thank you for your help too

Re: Christians...I am a newly saved christian myself...BUT I'M SOO BOOORED...what do you all do in your spare time??
Having been a christian for a VERY VERY VERY long time I suggest you read this before you go any further in your walk..it will save you a LOT of heartache and trouble.

If you DO have the truth in you..you WILL know this is true.

=======================================================

Having a personal relationship with Jesus is all well and good....providing you actually HAVE one for real.

How can most of the ones who claim they have a personal relationship with the author of love be the most hate filled judgmental callous and hellfire torture breathing ones out there?

The hypocrisy is permeated in every church I have ever been to.

Thinking they are good and holy when they by their words and their action only show they are evil and unholy?.

They sit up on a pedastal and proclaim doom and torture and death as the invention of the Author of Love.

How can this be?

Isnt satan the author of doom and torture and death?

Was it not satan who was the first one to use pride which led to hate?

Then why do so many "Christians" and churches preach pride and hate and doom and death to all who dont follow their interpretation of things?

Isnt that satans way of doing things?

Ive seen thousands of so called "Born again spirit filled" christians hating eachother and everyone else with a hate and vehemence that satan would be very proud of.

Its all about threats of torture in a horrifying dungeon that GOD created. Cant God reach people without having to resort to torture as a threat?

Since when did God get into the blackmail business?

Isnt blackmail and torture SATANS domain?

Isnt it satans tactic to DEMAND people worship him on pain of death?

Isnt it satans wish and plan to MARK everyone on the planet and FORCE people to worship him as god ON PAIN OF DEATH?

Didnt Jesus say that the best way to tell good apart from evil is by its fruits or its results?

So how come the "Born again spirit filled" ones who claim to be full of the love of God preach the very SAME doctrine satan preaches,,,which is..worship ME or DIE?

(And the antichrist can only kill you once..it is said God will keep you alive in agony forever which is far worse)

How can God claim the high ground if he uses the SAME and WORSE tactics..threats..and FEAR that satan uses?

Either satan and god are one and the same being..

OR...

Satan has very cunnungly programmed most christians into accepting God has the right to be exactly what satan is.

A terrifying, megolomaniac, worship demanding, torturing, merciless tyrant.

God CANNOT be that.

So what is the answer?

Jesus was right when he warned of sending a strong delusion.

"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and will all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

"And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Is not what The churches teach and the current doctrine portraying God to be the same or worse than satan is about as deluded as you can get.?

force and fear and control and manipulation are blatant tools of darkness.

So is blackmail.

No one can deny that.

It makes me wonder why it is used so much by christians.

Its taught that good and bad fruit cannot grow on the same tree.

Foul and fresh water cannot flow from the same tap.

So how is LOVE and BLACKMAIL allowed to coexist together in current teachings?

If you have real love dwelling inside you right away you know just what darkness is.

Darkness does not know itself as dark until the light comes on.

Darkness is seen clearly in the bright glare of the light of LOVE.

If you continue in pride and contention and arguments and spite....if you still have a cold hard judgmental attitude towards others who do not agree with you...if you think of God as being a blackmailer and tyrant whos only effective way of gaining followers is to threaten them with torture...sorry to say..but all those things are of DARKNESS and proves beyond doubt..by their fruits..that the light has NOT come on inside.

Many can claim they said a prayer that changed them. But did they change?

Their main desire is to beat others over the head with threats of hell in the same way they feel God beat THEM over the head with threats of hell.

This is NOT love it is FORCE.

This is why NO love is shown BY them because NO love was shown TO them.

You can ONLY give what you have recieved.

If what you give is harsh judgment and you hold an elite attitude of "I am saved and THEY will burn" then you are only repeating the mindset of satan who is all about threats and force and blackmail.

God is LOVE and he who DWELLS in love ABIDES in him..IN LOVE..and IN God there is NO DARKNESS AT ALL.

If your entire christian walk is dedicated to telling others they will burn in hell or that they have to cower and cringe and obey laws and do this or that or GOD will get them...then you are preaching darkness because darkness is in fact what you have recieved within and so its all you can give and show without.

But if you let Jesus reign IN you and His love is REAL to you then you could not even THINK about threatening others nor would you have pride and spite.

Jesus said "I am MEEK and LOWLY of heart..LEARN from me"

So few DO..although they THINK they do but their words and their actions betray the true state of whats within.

If what flows OUT of you is darkness then its darkness that reigns within NOT light or LOVE.

Clean and dirty water cannot flow from the same tap.

You cannot say you LOVE God and HATE others. The two do not mix.

You cannot say you have LOVE within if you show PRIDE and spite without. Its only an indicator that NOTHING has changed within you.

This is the reason so many see christians as evil spite filled pride obsessed contentious hypocrites.

Because MOST of them ARE, as they cannot help but show their TRUE nature to the world. The nature of DARKNESS is evident even to those who still dwell in it and who have never met Jesus.

The world judges christians this way because EVIL knows its own. When something comes along that is MORE evil than the world the world sees this and knowing by NATURE the things of darkness is very quick to point it out.

The world LOATHES hypocrites.

So all christians out there reading this please be aware of what you say and do. ARE you being compassionate and loving? Or are you judging and hating and condemning?

Next time you feel like reacting in anger or spite or saying "YOU will BURN IN HELL for having such a veiw" keep in mind the pharisees acted the same way and we all know what Jesus thought of THEM.

Ponder this.

You can find a good "bible thesaurus" online and search for keywords in the bible.

You can spend your time also learning philosophy and psychology.

You friends may consider you a "jesus freak" so if you want to keep your old friends, don't bother them too much. Try to seek out some new friends who have the same interests or have the same christian lifestyle.

Re: Christians...I am a newly saved christian myself...BUT I'M SOO BOOORED...what do you all do in your spare time??
To the christians of GLP...just got saved on tuesday....but on my days off from work i find myslef sooooo booored...

I'm 20, and everything i used to do for for i realize is wrong now, like playing call of duty...i realize that game is straight form hell, so i sold my ps3 on craigslist. Used to do porn also in my spare time when i had absolutely nothing else to do. Obviously not an option now. Used to go out with my friends, but all they wanna do is party, get girls, and smoke weed...all not options now for me. I'm trying to resist because i know the rapture is literally right around the corner, but i have this thing where i constantly need something to keep my attention.

I know i can pray, and read the bible, and i try to repent, daily, but since I'm such a new christian, doing these don't really hold my interest as long as i would like them to. I pray for Jesus to make me want to read the bible more,,, but until that happens what do i do?!?! thnks

I'm literally just sitting here on my couch waiting for the world to end/rapture to happen...no news today except the shooting...and that's already old news, and earth LITERALLY has nothing interesting to offer me.

These are actually good ones...thanks!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19774795

And make sure that when ya do this..its done with PRIDE..and that you do it NOT with their actual welfare in mind..but with the REWARDS you will get from it..and the arrogance and pride you will garner when you start condemning others..as WILL happen with what ive seen of your attitude SO far..for not doing the same as you.

Also you must now start to condemn anyone who tells cold hard truths like this..and call them satan and poissessed, and feel a certain joy inside at their upcoming endless torture, which secretly OR openly you actually rejoice in.

Keep up the good work..you will make a perfect example of your average modern day christian if you do all these things..which I see you have already started to do.

Satan LOVES a fake..so..make him PROUD.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17206615

Aren't you being prideful condemning someone you hardly know? Why don't you deal with your own pride? Deal with God, repent, be forgiven and you'll have a lot less bitterness to carry around.
 Quoting: Needles Eye

Im not condemning him at all..

IM TRYING TO WARN HIM.

Or do you WANT him to end up EXACTLY as I am desribing like MOST christians I have ever met..THINKING they are saved but just UTTERLY evil in every word and motivation of their heart?

IM JUST telling the TRUTH.

COLD AND HARD..there is NO MORE TIME to muck around.

Thank you, this was very helpful! I forgot about the whole demons like to come back to their "home" type of thing. And yes i've been praying to Jesus to make me want to do things for him. Also been praying to him to make the bible more interesting to me. A big reason i can't read the bible for too long is that idk where to start...i know you can start in the gospels..but after that where to go, the rest of the bible doesn't seem as interesting as the gospels...any suggestions...

i know it's probably gonna take some time to really get into it and be able to spend time with Jesus and all

Did I mention if you mention that you did it as part of any law you lose the good deed points because you turned it into work.

Ro:6:1:
What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin,
that grace may abound?
Ro:6:2:
God forbid.
How shall we,
that are dead to sin,
live any longer therein?

Ro:11:5:
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Ro:11:6:
And if by grace,
then is it no more of works:
otherwise grace is no more grace.
But if it be of works,
then is it no more grace:
otherwise work is no more work.

There you a catch-22 to play with.

Having been a christian for a VERY VERY VERY long time I suggest you read this before you go any further in your walk..it will save you a LOT of heartache and trouble.

If you DO have the truth in you..you WILL know this is true.

=======================================================

I use the Gospels as the final words about the bruise to the heel in Ge:3:15. All 12 books listed after Daniel cover the day of return. Knowing how all the prophecies fit together make us children of the light compared to ones not familiar with the concept of a deception and then the actual return.
After the reading come the chatting about what you read and if there are any holes others seem to have a knack for finding many where you can find none, lol

First you should sit down and read Romans, Gives you a good understanding of what you are feeling and thinking and how to understand the struggle.

Secondly stopping everything cold turkey can be dangerous. We are told that our life is like a ball of clay slowly being molded and refined. It takes time. It is a long process. People who give up something they have done along time, a habit if you like, more times than not if they stop out right, they fall back to it, and when they do they do it 3-4 times more than what they did before they stopped.

Think of it more like this:

1 Corinthians 6:12
"Everything is permissible for me" -but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

It is ok to have a beer, but it is not ok to let the desire for the beer to control your life.

it is ok to play a video game, but it is not ok to let your every waking moment consumed by that video game.

Isaiah 40:31

"but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Thank you, this was very helpful! I forgot about the whole demons like to come back to their "home" type of thing. And yes i've been praying to Jesus to make me want to do things for him. Also been praying to him to make the bible more interesting to me. A big reason i can't read the bible for too long is that idk where to start...i know you can start in the gospels..but after that where to go, the rest of the bible doesn't seem as interesting as the gospels...any suggestions...

i know it's probably gonna take some time to really get into it and be able to spend time with Jesus and all
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19774795

You may try to do just a little a day, and do this consistently.

For example, have a goal to read x amount, or read x amount for only and at least 15 minutes a day.

This way, you will not get burnt out, and the Bible will not seem overwhelming.

In addition to the Gospel, a minister, also recommended to me the book of Proverbs and Psalms.

After you finish, you can then read other books in the OT, or even, re-read the same books. This will help you to drill the information in.

Remember, if you do too much at once or in one day, you can get 'bored' or 'burnt out'.

This is why I strongly recommend, do just a bit, a day.

This will be unique to each person. So, make this amount, doable, for you personally.

Who knows, what you said, could have already planted a seed in their mind. Which may then lead to Christ later on.

By continuing to pray for them, and showing them Christ, by your behaviors, words, etc. you may eventually help them come to Christ in the future.

But if they don't come to Christ, it's okay. You've done your part.

OH..and dont forget to be hateful and rude..and VERY arrogant and porud and full of yourself..and greedy too..oh,,and ya have to be an utter COWARD and want to run away and be raptured away from any pain at all..BUT LAUGH in MOCKING derision and snide hate at all those who will be left behind to burn.

I believe you doing this okay personally.

I believe we need to have balance. So allow yourself time daily to have guilt free play.

This will make this walk doable, and you can then mix in volunteering, reading the Bible, going to church, etc.

The key is balance. Because if we do too much, we can get burnt out, so I feel it's necessary to mix in joyful activities. The irony, this will probably make you more productive in other areas of life.

It goes along with that, God is a jealous God and gets mad when we have idols.

Idols are anything that we put in a priority over God. Not just a little gold statue.

If you want a jump start on some really though provoking, I would recomend you to go through the learn the bible in 24 hours. It is a very good overview of the whole bible, with lots of things that get overlooked by most today. you can listen to the whole thing here for free, it is broken down in to 30min sections

[link to khouse.org]

The other thing you can do for something to do is pick a topic, then search out where it comes up in the bible, there is good websites like biblegateway.com that you can search by words and it will give you all the verses with that word in it, you can also search in the different translations of the bible as well. So if for example you can type in angels and it will give you every verse that mentions angels and on and on...
