Yep I said fuck the crime scene! They would have to kill me to stop me hugging my baby one last time. One horrendous event turning into two!

what has sort of been missed is the discussion of school lockdowns... particularly primary or junior schools.

whenever i used to go somewhere, i used to find it interesting to read (and it was also par for the course), the emergency lock down method (they are discreeted away where a teacher knows where to find it)

each school is different; but it goes like this... a song will either come over the school pa and announce 'whole school silent reading will commence' (which it doesn't, but that is your signal. if you are outside other teachers heading toward their lock down room will tell you the same thing, so you get the drift.... at which point all children are to move to the safest area of the room with a silent reading book, whilst you secure the doors and windows (assuring your tribe that it is a new system)... you then ring the designated number to report a check-in and take the student numbers and roll all the time having a spledid look on ones face.... doors are not to be answered until you get a call from the specific safety team or person... if you cannot get to your room, you head for the nearest safe place/ classroom/ lockable area and have the children do a silent activity with you (usualy mime).. the all clear is given by way of an announcement or a phone call.

it is eerie and unsettling... i'm not uncling, but i did train staff for this sad eventuality and in the 90's went through a not-a-drill bomb threat in QLD and we paraded the whole school out onto the oval.....

point being there is only so much you can train for.... there is no panic, there is no time to think.. you are in autopilot for the children...it saddens me.....
