My anger would be over-the-top, as in crazed-rage stage probably. IMO: This is going to cause some serious long-term emotional damage to the parents. They will never get over it, never. I know I wouldn't.

I am pretty sure he won't be going back. Not after this. Sorry, staged or otherwise, it was a wakeup call. I worried about HS and even Jr. High, but I NEVER want to be in a situation where I'm one of the parents who drops their kid off at school and never sees them alive again. If I don't do something about it now, I will have no one to blame but myself.

And I am neurotic - I drop my kid off every day and watch him walk in, I pick him up after school at the door. But apparently that is far from enough to keep him safe...


My daughter was a freshman at Columbine when the shootings took place. She was a volunteer in the library there. She ended up getting sick with a fever and turned around and came home before the day started. After the shooting, her father and I pulled her out and home schooled until she graduated.

Please, don't hesitate to get your kids out now. You won't regret it. They are not safe in school anymore. I grew up in a different time, where going to school was safe. The world has changed and will never be the same again. Peace.
