Mortal food makes me, and mortals, generally slower, weaker, and less energetic. It also makes you susceptible to disease and sickness. This is why most mortals are now introducing much more juicing, fasting and all sorts of raw diets into their life. All living things are a vampire in essence. People consume other life in order to sustain their own. I don't really consume blood, I'm not that kind of vampire. I prefer to draw in my energy else where.
