A somber religious post (I need help)
Born and raised an atheist. Not a good person; I've gotten into so much trouble with so many people for so many reasons. It feels like no matter how hard I try I can never totally overcome my worst vices like being overly judgmental, wrathful, and impatient; being lustful and sexually deviant; being cruel, deceitful and manipulative.

Recent months have been a milestone for me. I went back and rediscovered Jesus' teachings. They've been a great source of inspiration and affirmation for me, but wow do I keep messing up despite my best intentions.

I feel like I keep inviting God into my life and then slamming the door in His face. I'm trying to open myself up and accept the Spirit, but it's hard work undoing a lifetime of materialistic programming.

I guess all I'm saying is I'm really lost right now. I'm struggling so much in my personal life and I know I'll never overcome these obstacles without strength bestowed from above. Even with that being said, I keep having such a difficult time taking my newfound faith seriously.

Also, I'm very nervous that a lifetime of bad behavior and cursing His creations (as well as Him Himself on more occasions then I would like to admit) has left me out in the cold, with no chance to be 'taken back in' from this wilderness of vice. I seriously feel like I may be doomed.

Pray for me?

Keep trying, it will get better and easier. It will only get worse if you quit trying. Stay on the path and try not to look back. If you keep thinking about all the wrong you've done, you will just torture yourself. Remember Jesus died for your sins, His blood wipes away all your sin, so go forward and try and leave all the negativity behind. I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless You.

It is not easy being a follower of Jesus, many obstacles will be placed in front of you but if deep in your heart you have faith, you will come through it all.

Even the great saints had their "desert of the soul" which for some lasted years.

Do not be afraid.

God will teach you if you open up to his channeling. All it takes is your willingness to accept his guidance.
Everything that has happened will make sense. God will show you.

Have faith that your life decisions are part of your journey and without them you would be unable to reflect, learn and move forward.

First things first, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Have you said the sinners prayer? When in prayer ask him to fill you with his spirit. Without his spirit you cannot overcome. Come to God in humility. Ask to be cleansed from all sin by his blood. Say in your prayer I give you my burdens, my struggles, my cares. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in Jesus name. Also you need the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. This is power that he gives you. And be prepared for War within yourself. You will have to battle against yourself. To become the person you want to be.

This.

Everyone goes through rough patches.

I lost everything. my job. my life. my health.

My child was aborted. I became a full blown cocaine addict. Fought my friends. Started vandalizing every time I got drunk. Went too jail three times this year, had the paramedics revive me a couple of times.

I spend my days lonely and suicidal.

I have court on Tuesday for break and enter. And I'm in a lot of debt.

I was an atheist. But now a Christian. It is absolutely hard, hard to watch those who are backstabbing evil people get ahead in life while you are left in the dust.

But it's almost over. I tell myself that every day.

Re: A somber religious post (I need help)
You have the right intentions...

Way to go, that means you're not a bad person, seriously...

Be real with yourself, in the moment, when its tough, that's the real work...

Check out some eastern philosophies too, how they see god in everything, they see everything as a form of god, even suffering, short comings, these are stages towards self realization, enlightenment, taming your inner world...

The strength comes through you, you have to line it up and insist on cutting out the bullshit, that is real spirituality, that is being Christ like - many Christians can't even follow through with that...

Forgive yourself, you are not lowly, you are striving for better and are humble enough to admit your short comings...

Believe in yourself, be real with yourself, you're already half way there :)

Don't worry about death, death is fair. Guess who does the judging? You do! In that state, all the bs is gone, suddenly very clear, very real with yourself.

;) stay strong bro, you're not alone.

Re: A somber religious post (I need help)
Listen, I think I know what's wrong, you need to start at age 6 months, or how far back you remember, and list each and every sin you remember doing. As you remember them, tell God you repent, and renounce that sin. Keep doing this till you get to the present day. If you can think of ways to rectify any of the sins, do so. (IE if you stole a pack of gum, go pay for it.) If you can't rectify the wrong you did, just ask God for forgiveness.

Then, go back and remember each and every wrong done to you, and forgive that person, and let God know you forgive them.

Then, ask God to help you resist any more sinning.

Ask God to send angels, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to walk with you each day, and to send you direction. Ask him to reveal himself to you. Ask him to show you the right path to take.

When and if you sin again, repent.

Numbers 14:[11] And the Lord said to Moses: How long will this people detract me? how long will they not believe me for all the signs that I have wrought before them?

Psalms 6: [1] Unto the end, in verses, a psalm for David, for the octave. [2] O Lord, rebuke me not in thy indignation, nor chastise me in thy wrath.[3] Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled. [4] And my soul is troubled exceedingly: but thou, O Lord, how long? [5] Turn to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercy's sake.

[6] For there is no one in death, that is mindful of thee: and who shall confess to thee in hell? [7] I have laboured in my groanings, every night I will wash my bed: I will water my couch with my tears. [8] My eye is troubled through indignation: I have grown old amongst all my enemies.

[9] Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity: for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping. [10] The Lord hath heard my supplication: the Lord hath received my prayer.

[11] Let all my enemies be ashamed, and be very much troubled: let them be turned back, and be ashamed very speedily.

Job 30:26
I expected good things, and evils are come upon me: I waited for light, and darkness broke out.

Ecclesiasticus 11:27
In the day of good things be not unmindful of evils: and in the day of evils be not unmindful of good things:

Tobias (Tobit) 2: [10] Now it happened one day, that being wearied with burying, he came to his house, and cast himself down by the wall and slept,

[11] And as he was sleeping, hot dung out of a swallow's nest fell upon his eyes, and he was made blind. [12] Now this trial the Lord therefore permitted to happen to him, that an example might be given to posterity of his patience, as also of holy Job.

[13] For whereas he had always feared God from his infancy, and kept his commandments, he repined not against God because the evil of blindness had befallen him, [14] But continued immoveable in the fear of God, giving thanks to God all the days of his life.

[15] For as the kings insulted over holy Job: so his relations and kinsmen mocked at his life, saying:

[16] Where is thy hope, for which thou gavest alms, and buriedst the dead? [17] But Tobias rebuked them, saying: Speak not so: [18] For we are the children of the saints, and look for that life which God will give to those that never change their faith from him.

2 Corinthians 12: [1] If I must glory (it is not expedient indeed), but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. [2] I know a man in Christ above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not, or out of the body, I know not; God knoweth), such a one caught up to the third heaven. [3] And I know such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: God knoweth), [4] That he was caught up into paradise, and heard secret words, which it is not granted to man to utter. [5] For such an one I will glory; but for myself I will glory nothing, but in my infirmities.

[6] For though I should have a mind to glory, I shall not be foolish; for I will say the truth. But I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth in me, or any thing he heareth from me. [7] And lest the greatness of the revelations should exalt me, there was given me a sting of my flesh, an angel of Satan, to buffet me.

[8] For which thing thrice I besought the Lord, that it might depart from me. [9] And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for power is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

[10] For which cause I please myself in my infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ. For when I am weak, then am I powerful.

3 Kings (1 Kings) 8: [45] And then hear thou in heaven their prayers, and their supplications, and do judgment for them.

[46] But if they sin against thee (for there is no man who sinneth not) and thou being angry deliver them up to their enemies, so that they be led away captives into the land of their enemies far or near;

[47] Then if they do penance in their heart in the place of captivity, and being converted make supplication to thee in their captivity, saying: We have sinned, we have done unjustly, we have committed wickedness:

[48] And return to thee with all their heart, and all their soul, in the land of their enemies, to which they had been led captives: and pray to thee towards the way of their land, which thou gavest to their fathers, and of the city which thou hast chosen, and of the temple which I have built to thy name:

[49] Then hear thou in heaven, in the firmament of thy throne, their prayers, and their supplications, and do judgment for them: [50] And forgive thy people, that have sinned against thee, and all their iniquities, by which they have transgressed against thee: and give them mercy before them that have made them captives, that they may have compassion on them.

That there, is a key problem. If you don't truly believe or have a lot of doubts, you subconsciously don't have motivation to do right according to the Bible, since in the back of your mind you doubt it.

So, the primary solution, is you need to examine evidence, that gives more weight to the Bible. This then, will in turn more naturally increase your motivation to do right.

There's many sources and evidence. I would highly recommend watching this. This provides very strong evidence:

THIS is all true, I was previously explaining the nuts and bolts of coming to him in humility, because he did not come to me till I did all the repenting and forgiving. What the writer above explains sounds cryptic because he is talking about supernatural events you will experience.

Here's your answer op

John 8

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

the Bible is his Word..... if you read your Bible EVERY day in sincerity...then you are a disciple because the Word of God will start to transform you over time ... the Word of God is Spiritual food and just like if you naturally weighed 500 pnds and you started eating healthy foods....it would still take time for the transformation

The same is true with spiritual food....just keep reading your Bible daily and you will see the transformation
