No. When you are a kid you read out loud to hear what you have interpreted from the written word. It encourages a process of sub-vocalization, which gives a child a better opportunity to learn to pronounce new words.
When you are older you read out loud or sub-vocalized when learning new things such as a part in a play or a lecture.
And of course you always read out load when giving a lesson or lecture. So serious answer to serious question is "No, it is not weird".
