God bless America.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19706474 11000 out of 2,400,000 deaths. That's about 1 in 1000. Big whoop! The price of freedom. Gun deaths are so rare that they make the news all over the world. Too bad that in every school there isn't a responsible person authorized to carry a weapon. Better yet, have two or three locked up around the school that can be reached. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29814776 This is actually approximately 1:200. But these are statistics for actual death not death per head of population. Deaths by gunshot per head of population would be 11,000 out of 350,000,000 or 11:350,000 or approx 1:35000. The accurate comparison between all these countries then would be a ratio of deaths per head of population, not an absolute number. Thus Sweden is 11:9,500,000 or 1:95,000 which makes it about one third as likely that a Swede will be shot to death with a handgun, than an American.
