The price of freedom. Gun deaths are so rare that they make the news all over the world. Too bad that in every school there isn't a responsible person authorized to carry a weapon. Better yet, have two or three locked up around the school that can be reached. |

Prostetnik User ID: 29782568 Canada 12/15/2012 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 11,000 a year is a lot. I wonder if there ever has been a study that divides the victims and perpetrators by cultural group, and whether the victims are actual victims of crime, or the result of a self defense action. I have a feeling that the results of such a study would indicate those part of society that need better education, a better sense of enfranchisement and a reduction in the sense of entitlement. I think it is really important to look at this problem dispassionately and not with prejudice founded upon the perceived rights of individuals. The problem is that no one in the US really wants dispassionate argument, because in general, they just know they are right and everyone else is wrong. |

How many were suicides? What wbout motor vehical deaths ? Last year it was 32,367. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Do you want to knee jerk ban cars? Gun control laws make for easy prey for the criminals. Prostetnik User ID: 29782568 Canada 12/15/2012 10:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 11000 out of 2,400,000 deaths. That's about 1 in 1000. Big whoop! The price of freedom. Better yet, have two or three locked up around the school that can be reached. This is actually approximately 1:200. But these are statistics for actual death not death per head of population. Deaths by gunshot per head of population would be 11,000 out of 350,000,000 or 11:350,000 or approx 1:35000. The accurate comparison between all these countries then would be a ratio of deaths per head of population, not an absolute number. Thus Sweden is 11:9,500,000 or 1:95,000 which makes it about one third as likely that a Swede will be shot to death with a handgun, than an American. Well your local media is lieing too you. This place is a hell hole, crack addicts everywhere, rampant use of Crystal Meth. We have an incredibly high amount of unreported domestic abuse. In a night I will see about 5-7 fights driving around. In high school people were being stabbed or beaten up everyday. My home town had many school lock downs from a nature trail rapist murderer. Please don't speak for us. [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Alas you must live with the assholes who were not killed. That is why you grow Queen marys, hitlers and mussolinis types that have and someday will kill multiple million. While at times we lose innocent we by far lose less innocent than what those have done. We get our killing done early. You let it linger until it is an out of control world disaster. You take care of yours and we will take care of ours thank you and unfortunately we will again have to take care of you once again like we always do. in the meantime Last Edited by TidesofTruth on 12/15/2012 10:54 AM |

That’s how many people die on America’s roads daily, says the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. “Motor vehicle crashes in the United States result in more than 40,000 deaths per year,” says the Institute in the journal Injury Prevention. “That is, on each of the 6,209 consecutive days included in this study, an equivalent of a plane load or more of people died on the roads.” Read more: [link to www.foxnews.com] Last Edited by telling it straight on 12/15/2012 11:00 AM |

Population 35 million compared to USA with 350 million...so, if you look at the fact that America is 10 times larger, population wise than Canada you should have have under 600 handgun related deaths. 11000...think about that...11000 Its a sad fact that a once great nation lives in fear of its own neighbors...And I'm not talking Canada or Mexico...you're scared of yourselves. I can see some real strife coming down from this, because you now have a President who actually gives a shit. Harsh laws will be put in place over gun control. The redneck agenda will be willing to go to war over it...because that's what they are...Rednecks. RIP America, you had a nice run. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8397139 Where are the numbers from Stalinist Russia? Pol Pot's Cambodia? Mao's China? ? No one seems to be able to answer that... It comes back to two obvious and unassailable points: 1) When guns are outlawed only criminals will have guns. Yes, this includes the government. 2) I will not surrender my firearms. I live in the States. Grew up here. A LOT of my fellow countrymen feel this way. It's ingrained in our culture. |
