I'm in KC too, and I see the unfinished fuselages of 737's on rail cars being shipped between STL and Seattle all the time. I'm not sure a 777 would fit on a railcar-the length of the fuselage is almost 250ft. I bet you're thinking of the 737's that you see on the railroads down by the old downtown airports that are painted with the green anti-corrosion paint.

Anyway, why would these fighter jets be in KC anyway? The nearest Air Force base is 70 miles away, and there aren't any large aircraft manufacturing companies here. Maybe out it Wichita where they have many manufacturing companies-Boeing, Cesna, Hawker/Beechcraft,Lear and more. But Wichita is nearly 200 miles from KC, so again why would they be in KC?

Correct! And they certainly wouldn't ship jets from KC to the east coast. That is just beyond illogical!

The USAF has planes strategically placed all over the US to deal with whatever may arise here and overseas. They don't just randomly place them where there is an empty space. It's not like finding a parking spot. It's the military for goodness sake! Geez!

I would agree, only because they were all GROUNDED on the day they were really needed, 9/11/2001 .

If there were a truly huge disaster in the U.S.A.

Well...There's been an unintentional "leak" by a
retired USGS employee who is saying that the
USGS--our earthquake scientists--are all freaked
out about the quake (a 6.3 pt.) off the coast of
S. Caifornia which was NOT ON A FAULTLINE. This
happened today or yesterday.......It was
in bedrock which they don't understand.
So...given the up-tick in meteors, quakes,
a huge storm coming in this week for both
coastlines...I would say that the military would
probably be wise to have an alert in place.
