My friend is alive today because she carried a gun. She managed to shoot a person who had broken into her house with the intent to kill her, then kill himself. She came home and he was waiting for her behind the corner from the entry.

He had left a note explaining that he was in love with her and since she refused his advances he was going to kill her. The freaky thing is she had no idea who he was. Probably a customer at the store where she worked.
