I am a Christian ... it was the only thing that kept me from killing myself after I lost Speedy. He was all I had left after my husband died. But Papa God kept me going.

Maybe this link below will help, it's for senior citizen's service organizations in Omaha. You could reach out to the ones that look interesting to you.

Midwesterners are generally pretty friendly, so you might strike up a few new relationships that will make you feel more connected to the community.

It is hard to uproot a senior citizen like they have done, and I am disappointed that your kids didn't ensure you were at least near transportation. And as for your daughter visiting you once a month, phooey. Nobody is that busy.

You will have to reach out to others, maybe volunteer at the SPCA to brush the kitties and play with them. They are always looking for people to help socialize the 'adoptees'.

This is a wonderful idea.

Yes it was hard to move from the home I had with my husband in Iowa City ... but 6 weeks after he passed away our apartment building was hit by the Iowa City tornado of 2006! For anyone familiar with the area, we lived right next door to Old St. Mary's Catholic Church which was totally destroyed by the tornado. Anyhow, I really did have to move. As for them only seeing me once a month, they have a very old car that has a great deal of millage on it and they take a risk every time they take me shopping. Where they live they can walk to a HyVee market if necessary, plus they only live two blocks from work too. But I totally understand with work and the car why they cannot come over more often. I love them so much!

Oh dear. I was going to contact Little Brothers of the Elderly here in Omaha and look what I got:

It's easy to say that.....but many of us actually don't associate prayer with religion. TO me it is sending out the most positive, manifesting energy I can to a specific cause.

Truly said. I do not belong to any organized religion. I have been baptized but have never found a church where I felt I fitted in and belonged. It seems that most of them are more like businesses out to make money. Another thing, they also seemed to be geared to the young, not that there is anything wrong with that. But the last three churches I attended did not have one thing to offer seniors, no groups, no outings, no get togethers, nothing. So I gave up.

I love you as much as I can not knowing you! I know lonliness too and send my love, prayers and blessings to you!

We go over to the "Munster's" for Christmas...those kind of senior citizen parent's and shower them with all kinds of love and kudos. We do it cause they are the parent's and we respect them anyways. You sound so very different from that. Will you be our Mom in spirit? lol....God Bless your never alone sweetie~
