School Shooting - WHY was everyone so PASSIVE?

That's a very good question.

Trained obedience.

This was not a huge guy sure he had guns but I would have if I was a teacher fought for my life tried to get the gun out of his hand anything. I know its easy to say but still.

How can we train kids to be disobedient when it makes sense? The whole concept of school is about compliance and obedience, yet it's out of control. Each kid in the country should come up with an escape plan from such situations, and keep the plan to his/her self. That way, the kids will be unpredictable, and more are likely to survive.

The same is true for the teachers and staff, though the admin would never approve of such an idea.

Survivors think for themselves. Parents should teach this.

I've always thought (hoped, at least) that if I somehow ended up on the wrong end of an "active shooter" scenario that I'd at least do *something* rather than huddle and wait to die.

I usually carry a decent sized folding knife, and it is not beyond the realm of possibility that I could get in close on an untrained shooter and take him out, especially if he was busy shooting in the opposite direction and not practicing situational awareness (i.e. "watching his six).

At the very least I would die fighting with a weapon in my hand rather than on my knees begging for my life.

People can't think on their feet anymore. It seems they can't think period. The last few years when I've tried to get information from people, I am most often met with blank stares or a response that doesnt have anything to do with what i am talking about.

You would have better luck throwing a desk in his face. No one pumped up on adrenaline is going to let you into their personal space.

Like, grab a chair and clobber the fuck out of the guy. If two or three teachers had done this they may have well overwhelmed him. I doubt he was expecting resistance.
