Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10186417 Unintentional result by drug interaction, or wrong prescription in comparison to act of intentional homicide. Someone posted that 11,000 people a year were killed by handguns. That prompted me to research how many are killed by prescription drugs, which are often found used by the perpetrators, and have been a causative factor. I felt that information needed to be balanced with information on one of the causative factors in the breakdown of our society, and in the increase of homicides and suicides. In terms of balance, why are we not also outraged at the harm caused by both drug reactions and mis-prescribed drugs? How many deaths must we see before we become as outraged as some are about handguns? Not just the deaths of those taking the drugs, but of those who become their victims? Perhaps we are attacking the wrong problems in our search for a solution? We need to seriously look at our love affair with prescription drugs and our readiness to take anything prescribed, in spite of the evidence of harm to thousands of people, the unknowns of interactions, and the unknowns of how different people will respond to these drugs (increased depression, aggression, etc.). We need to look at causes of the breakdowns in our society. Widespread use of drugs, legal and illegal, is one of them. I don’t think that the average person owning a handgun is the real problem. |

Shills might as well give up on banning guns. It can never happen. There are so many guns in circulation right now that getting rid of them is IMPOSSIBLE. Gotta find another battle to fight. Outlawing them would be like throwing a grape at a train. It will achieve absolutely nothing. Sure a few cowards will turn theirs in but 99% will not. Where does that leave us? Anyway, guns are to protect us from the government first and foremost. So sure they want to take our guns. |

The thing is, my personal belief is that the Newton incident was one more psyop to direct public opinion, to incite the public to rail against handguns, as the problem. Problem. reaction, solution. But as you said, banning guns will solve nothing. Especially since it is not the real problem. We have become a nation of people who no longer look beyond the headlines. We don't analyze the facts and look beyond the surface to see what is really going on. And it is leading us down the path of destruction. Seeing several posters buying into the idea that guns are the problem, and banning them as the solution, just saddens me. Prescription and illegal drugs are just part of the problem. There are many other causative factors beneath the surface we are shown, which I will not go into in this thread. But owning a gun for self defense is not one of them. |

A very, very, large amount of advertising money - you will seldom, if ever, read a negative article in the MSM on the drug companies. 2.) The drug companies that produce these poisons buy politicians to pass legislation granting the drug companies immunity from litigation. |

When one Post Office Vehicle Hit a child when backing up,(unharmed, by the way, very slow back-up), the response was to ban all Post Office drivers from ever backing up. That meant people in our neighborhood, and others, were required to move some of our mail boxes so they would never have to back up. Instead of a blanket response such as this to one incident, why not equip vehicles with back-up alarms? Re-educate drivers? Provide better mirrors? Sorry, off topic. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 23972654 12/16/2012 01:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just playings devil's advocate, but how many lives to prescription drugs save each day? Quoting: Patrick Bateman You are right, and there are always at least two sides to every story. Yes, prescription drugs have helped to save lives. It is the misuse/overuse of them (either in their initial prescription or by the person prescribed), the lack of true research to determine dangers (or cover-up of those dangers), and lack of knowledge of both interactions between drugs, and individual responses to drugs. There is also a concern as to how some have contributed to recent homicides/suicides, yet are still being marketed. That is what I’m addressing here. [link to healthfreedoms.org] “Psychotropic drugs. It’s the story of big money-drugs that fuel a $330 billion psychiatric industry, without a single cure. The cost in human terms is even greater-these drugs now kill an estimated 42,000 people every year. And the death count keeps rising. Containing more than 175 interviews with lawyers, mental health experts, the families of victims and the survivors themselves, this riveting documentary rips the mask off psychotropic drugging and exposes a brutal but well-entrenched money-making machine. One of the most important things to know about psychiatry is the complete lack of science supporting its system of diagnosis or its treatments. Take, for example, the psychiatric “billing bible,” the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-IV. Not one of the 297 disorders described therein has ever been proven to exist by observable pathology or objective tests. Instead a panel of psychiatrists arbitrarily defined symptoms of each mental disorder and then literally voted on their suitability for inclusion in the DSM. By this system, if a newly defined mental disorder loses the vote, it fails to make it into the DSM. The system is subjective and ambiguous; its terminology is ill-defined or altogether undefined.” ----- This is an especially important issue in light of the new DSM coming out. Please see “Psychiatry goes insane: Every human emotion now classified as a mental disorder in new psychiatric manual DSM-5 “ [link to www.naturalnews.com] And for kicks you may enjoy seeing some of the newest entries: “Invent your own fictitious diseases! By the way, you can be your own psychiatrist right here, right now! Simply use my handy-dandy Disease Mongering Engine which randomly generates real-sounding mental disorders! ”Here's the link: [link to www.naturalnews.com] Will one of the new entries include something like “Obsession with handguns and rifles with a tendency to hoard and “prep”, accompanied by frequent attendance at GLP? Heehee Thanks, everyone, for your comments and participation. |
