Re: This is the Biggest News story - Tards
Racketeering, money laundering, counterfeiting, all in a days work for the TBTF banking system. If they get caught they get fines, small enough fines to just be a "cost of doing business".

When they get fined millions, the public thinks it is somehow "justice" since most folk are dirt poor and they find it hard to imagine just a million, but for the banking system that launders trillions the fines amount to less than 1 percent of their profits. Thats less than the taxes they do actually pay.

Where children and the way they died are involved, it tends to become more "real" than tens of thousands.

Not to say what you are posting (thank you, BTW) is not important, but that is the way it is.

Ok so it may be there are "rougue" countries laundering quite a bit of money right now, but how is that any different the Fed printing money and bailing out our banks? Seems to me we are still headed the same course we were before this news... War.

too big to jail.
There is clearly a two=tier jutice system now, and the rich can do anything and they will not be prosecuted, while the poor will be charged for even the slightest offense.

HSBC, too big to jail, is the new poster child for US two-tiered justice system
Glenn Greenwald

guardian.co.uk, Wednesday 12 December 2012 05.14 EST

DOJ officials unblinkingly insist that the banking giant is too powerful and important to subject to the rule of law

The US is the world's largest prison state, imprisoning more of its citizens than any nation on earth, both in absolute numbers and proportionally. It imprisons people for longer periods of time, more mercilessly, and for more trivial transgressions than any nation in the west. This sprawling penal state has been constructed over decades, by both political parties, and it punishes the poor and racial minorities at overwhelmingly disproportionate rates.

But not everyone is subjected to that system of penal harshness. It all changes radically when the nation's most powerful actors are caught breaking the law. With few exceptions, they are gifted not merely with leniency, but full-scale immunity from criminal punishment. Thus have the most egregious crimes of the last decade been fully shielded from prosecution when committed by those with the greatest political and economic power: the construction of a worldwide torture regime, spying on Americans' communications without the warrants required by criminal law by government agencies and the telecom industry, an aggressive war launched on false pretenses, and massive, systemic financial fraud in the banking and credit industry that triggered the 2008 financial crisis.

This two-tiered justice system was the subject of my last book, "With Liberty and Justice for Some",

How long will this effect you until the next similar event?
How much coverage do you need to understand the horror?
How much energy are you going to expend grieving?

Did you know any of the victims,...the shooter,...
Before the heart-rending 24/7 coverage?

HSBC, through its actions,...has likely been responsible for hundreds of children's deaths over the years by funding the ruthless drug Cartels.

HSBC is part of an alarming pattern of Corporate Greed at all costs,... and is most certainly going to effect your future as it has your past,....

Your present is being manufactured/manipulated, imo.

Yes, and I think that's the point. Playing on the emotions of the public is a game TPTB know well. What better way to obscure important news than to shock, horrify, and sadden the people? Worked for 911 and the missing billions. At the same time it worked to initiate the Patriot Act. Two in one! Distract and propagandize!

Ever notice how shills also love to use this technique (and no, I don't think you are a shill)? They will say "what if YOUR child died because this law wasn't passed, etc etc". In other words, children are used often in media and forum responses to elicit strong emotions in favor of certain propaganda, or to distract us from seeing more important news such as the information Op has provided.

This is interesting:

Fine in HSBC case equal to U.S. drug-war aid to Mexico

The U.S. fined the bank a record $1.92 billion on Tuesday, saying HSBC is essentially too big to prosecute. With assets, subsidiaries and investments spanning the globe, pressing criminal charges against HSBC could harm the global financial network at large, the Justice Department reasoned.

The fine, coincidentally, is about equal to the amount that the U.S. government has sent to Mexico in security aid in recent years under the Merida Initiative: A little more than $1.93 billion was sent by the Bush and Obama administrations to Mexico since 2007 to help Mexico fight the drug trade.

The Merida Initiative funds for military hardware, intelligence upgrades and training is meant to help Mexico's government fight a war against drug cartels, which has left at least 60,000 people dead or missing over six years but made no major dent in the trafficking of drugs to the United States.

Here's what they got:

Over the five-year term of the agreement with the Department of Justice, an independent monitor will evaluate HSBC's progress in fully implementing these and other measures it recommends, and will produce regular assessments of the effectiveness of HSBC's compliance function.

"The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians, they're an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the statehouses, the city halls. They've got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies, so that they control just about all of the news and information you hear. They've got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else."

"But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against their interests. They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.

"You know what they want? Obedient workers people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork but just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And, now, they're coming for your Social Security. They want your fucking retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all, sooner or later, because they own this fucking place. It's a big club, and you ain't in it. You and I are not in the big club."
